Obamacare wins? See you in 2014

Post by Riddick » 10-18-2013 09:07 PM

President Barack Obama’s signature health care law is now turning into a 2014 election issue, rather than the disastrous defunding fight that led the government to close for three weeks. With the shutdown out of the way, the health care law’s problems will take center stage in a way that they didn’t while Republicans were stepping on their own message.

Obamacare was always going to be a major issue in the mid-term elections, since so many of its major pieces — the new health coverage, the online marketplaces where the coverage is available, the expansion of Medicaid, and the hated individual mandate — become real in January.

But now, Democrats will also have to talk about a federal health insurance website that barely anyone can use. Even White House spokesman Jay Carney was reduced to arguing Thursday that Obamacare isn’t just a website — after Obama has been saying it would be as easy as shopping for flat-screen TVs online.

That’s why, even though Republicans have been damaged in the short term by the Obamacare fight they picked, there’s no reason to believe the Obama administration and Democrats will have an easy time in the months ahead, according to health care analysts and political strategists from both parties.

They're also going to have to explain why (for some) premiums are going way up, and why employers are being allowed to dump their employees, forcing them onto Obamacare.

I agree, for some, this is a Godsend. For others...... not so much

Most of the real bad problems won't kick in till 2015 because they have delayed a lot of it untill after the election. It will slowly overtake us and grind into the red tape crapmthe government always forces on us.

Most of the 30 million will still be unable to afford health care and now they will have to pay a fine for not having it.

Hope and change!

True. It's a way to demonize people. But I'm betting if you swear allegiance or give up rights, they will take care of you.

On the local news earlier this morning - Sen McCain was calling for some peopel from Silicon Valley to be brought in to clean-up the mess. Rubio and others were asking why, after 2-plus years of working on this, the WH website sucks so badly.

In local news, something on the order of 500 people in RI were able to sign-up for Obamacare, and this is probably indicative of percentages nationwide.

A local reporter noted that people would have better luck accessing and using the As Seen on TV website than they do Obamcare's website.........

Over the weekend - two links appear:

http://washingtonexaminer.com/premiums- ... le/2537431

Included in that article:
Virginia leads the pack, as individuals aged 27 and under will see their health insurance premiums jump by 252.5 percent -- 6.55 -- according to the Heritage Foundation's Center for Data Analysis. Virginians under the age of 50 will see their premiums jump by an even greater percentage, rising from 8 to 1.03.

The second link:
http://www.mcclatchydc.com/2013/10/18/2 ... r-old.html

This one included:
Health insurance companies are sending notices of cancellation to hundreds of thousands of people who buy their own coverage, frustrating some consumers who want to keep what they have and forcing others to buy more expensive policies. Insurers say the cancellations are necessary because the policies fall short of what the Affordable Care Act requires starting Jan. 1. Most are ending policies sold after the law passed in March 2010. At least a few are canceling plans sold to people with pre-existing medical conditions.

lot more info on both above.

little update -- supposedly across USA 40,000 now have signed up -- while 45,000,000 have lost current insurance.

and that counts several cut to 28-29 hours, plus insurance companies literally closing off in some areas.....

ohh ya -- so much for the lies.....

The disturbing part of this is that as time goes on the health care issue will develop into a crisis, and then government will feel compelled to do something else to "fix it", which we all know will take away more rights and compound the problem.

More and more I hear people talking about a revolution, and I guess I'm coming around to the reality that it's possible one could be ignited simply by a harsh flu season where the fed's incompetence leads to non-treatment and death.

And now, from the "Everything is fine & anyone who says different is full of sh!t" department:
  • The other night, Sean Hannity had on three couples to tell how their health insurance situation had been devastated by Obamacare. Reporter Eric Stern contacted those three couples to fact-check their assertions and discovered they didn’t know what they were talking about. Most of the campaign against the Affordable Care Act has been built on this kind of thing.
