Nearly half the world lives on less than $5.50 a day: World Bank

Despite progress in reducing extreme poverty, nearly half the world's population lives on less than $5.50 a day, with a rising share of the poor in wealthier economies, the World Bank said Wednesday.

In a twice-yearly report, the bank took a broader look at poverty to see where countries were lagging, even though the share of those living in extreme poverty—defined as earning less than $1.90 a day—has continued to come down in recent years.

Under the expanded criteria for poverty, the report found the number of poor worldwide was still "unacceptably high," while the fruits of economic growth were "shared unevenly across regions and countries."

Talk about being Ungreatful "Twits"! The poorest countries are run by Dictators, Socialists, Communists. Capitalism and Free Market not allowed for the people..........They Do Not Get To Keep What They Make!! THAT is up to the Government they elected or has taken over. Yet, the people of this Country have no idea what Real poverty means. They spend their $5.50 on a cheap latte daily, knowing that they are not going to go hungery the rest of the day. Even our pooest of poor know where to get a meal and a bed here, if they choose to do so.

The poor here poop in the streets, but most have cell phones............go figure.

We are placed in accordance with our Karma, and it's ours to own, over and over and over again, what ever it takes for a little light bulb of our own making to pop on. Equality is a useless word, not to be found here, until you look at youself.

I know, I'm nuts........you all think you can make it better by looking and doing "Out There", well, hows that working out for ya??

Want an answer to wealth disparity? It's SO easy:

Just implement the utopian green economic model -

If everyone can't live well, no one should live well.

Down With Prosperity! Poverty For All!

Did the World Bank ask questions such as "Why are housing costs so high in First World countries?", "Why are food and utility costs so high in First World countries?", "What can be done to lower housing, food, utility, transportation and medical costs in First World countries and bring them down to the level of costs in Third World countries?" I'm going to say "No, they didn't..."

The fact of the matter is, everything costs more in developed countries as opposed to Third World countries and so, one can survive (barely) on only $5.50/ day in a Third World country. If one tried that here, s/he wouldn't be able to afford rents or home ownership, food, basic necessities, etc, They'd be living out on the street themselves. And, all those US Taxpayer funded contributions to the UN that help Third World countries? They'd be a thing of the past......

I'm not adverse to assisting those in need. however, in all of these studies I never see the issue of our free-floating currency and wealth linked to tangible assets forming any part of the discussion.

How much does decoupling our currency from tangible assets such as gold or other precious metals factor into the equation? All I know with certainty is that ever since Nixon took us completely off the gold standard, prices for everything here has skyrocketed......

Carbon taxes. Lots and lots of carbon taxes.

They won't bring down costs (exactly the opposite), but they will eliminate wealth disparity globally by 99.99999%. (The top .00001% will be exempt from the tax)

Poverty is the new prosperity

Wrong answer Riddick. This stuff doesn't need to cost this much. Cut out the middlemen. Problem solved.

Sure, you can cut out the middlemen but now's that gonna help fight CLIMATE CHANGE?

To do that, this much isn't what stuff needs to cost - what stuff needs to cost is THIS MUCH

Universal carbon taxation of EVERYTHING by confiscatory global government is the only way to go.

Seems I may have spoken too soon? Climate change be damned! THIS is the way to go...

Kamala Harris Bill Could Give Many Americans $500 A Month

Trouble is, it's gonna take more than 6 grand a year to end wealth disparity as we know it, but it's a start. (And unveiling it Just In Time For The Midterms is just a coincidence)

So which "middle man" do you want to cut out? Say a Corporation has created a cheap pill that would cure everything, but with some side effects.

Do want to cut out the advertiser that lets people know it's available?

Do you want to cut out the the people who deliver it to the pharmacy who despence it.

Do you want to cut out the Docter who perscribes it to you?

With this idea you have, no body would even know it existed. You want the Government to give it to you? Well forget that, you will never see it, ever. Your silly hatred of capitalism blinds you to all its benefits you enjoy everyday of your life. Without it, You Are Living In a 3rd World Country, drinking dirty water, that Could have been made clean. Your life would be Without, that house, car, furniture, no store to get your food, no food in the store, why bother .

You have a job? WHY? To make money to buy your stuff, Oh My gods, That's Capitalism! Your wife wants to get her hair done, That's Capitalism! How dare that beautition want to make a buck to pay her bills!

Your a "Middle Man" you are in a procession of many people(paid for their work) to get results. Let's eliminate your job, (with no further income, That would be capitalist). I believe ,I can safely say, that you have never lived any other way and yet you hate the very thing that provides, (with your hard work, ) all the stuff that makes your life, worth living and Comfortable

Go to Venezuela and see how that works, they don't even have the $5.50 any more, they have been racked by Socialism, that Free Stuff, has cost them their lives.

And so ends Venezuela's venture into less than satisfying Socialism, where the cost of living is your life. And the worst part is there's no refunds.

Moral of the story? Always read the fine print.

EVery one of those people (steps) results in a markup Doka - everyone wants their cut, right? Perfect example, my wife buys something at Macy's on their "LAST CHANCE" rack. Huge savings, right? WRONG - they're still making huge profits. Even at 70-90% off, they're still making a huge profit. Most insurance companies drive reimbursement rates in healthcare, and THEIR costs are all overhead. Cut out the insurance industry and healthcare costs will drop. Expand this across the various sectors and cut out waste and prices will drop on their own

American socialism, 201

By Michael N. Mattia

The 60-year experiment in the progressive government-run educational system in this country has cheated and defrauded not only those it purports to educate, but also the taxpayers who funded this sham. It is apparent that no longer are American history, values, and civics taught. Rather, in their place, the students at all levels of the educational system are being and have been indoctrinated with the communist-socialist-progressive philosophy of hatred of capitalism, envy and jealousy of the successful, denial of individual responsibility, and the belief that government can solve all of life's problems.

Let us not forget that the German movement headed by Adolf Hitler was called the National Socialists (Nazis). How reminiscent that the Antifa- and Democrat-supported rioters of today are dressed in black, many with face masks, like the blackshirts of Fascist Italy. The only thing lacking are the logo armbands with the appropriate symbol.

Unfortunately, this radical philosophy and activity is being accepted and adopted by more and more so-called mainstream Democrats. One needs simply pay attention to the daily news to become aware of these facts. The Democratic appeal for violence against those who oppose them becomes louder and more strident every day.

Horse Pill Health Care

If we went back to how it was before insurance and everyone paid their own way, health care price tags sure as heck would come down 'cause the vast majority of folks couldn't or wouldn't pay the horse-choking charges we have today

OTOH, we go to government single payer, IMHO high cost-wise it'll cure nothing, access and quality will suffer, and all we'll have is a bitter pill MADE to choke.
