Well, I can understand people not being told the whole truth, when the people who are hiding it by omission have no way of stopping or changing it, but I, for one, would like to see beach-combers (especially children) knowing that they shouldn't touch the things they suspect might be from Japan. However, last I read, the EPA put far more emphasis on the invasive species than on the radioactivity on some of these pieces.
And, as just an addendum, we're still importing fabric, fish and vegetables from Japan and other nations which were impacted by the Fukushima disaster. And according to one of my tourist magazines, tourism to Japan is now nearly back to normal...
Ah, what short memories and greedy travel agents we have spawned.
