Republican Convention Raised $84 Million

The New York City Host Committee 2004 reported raising $84,165,173 during the period 6/17/02 to 9/28/04. The committee spent $73,959,843 and has cash on hand of $10,205,330. The committee is owed $417,479 and has bills to pay of $7,010,441.
The largest donor was New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg who gave $6,986,792. He gave $5 million directly and donated $891,230 for Geller & Co accounting fees, $418,370 for Wilkie Farr legal fees, and $577,191 for Skaden Arps legal fees. In addition Bloomberg LLP provided $218,648 in computer software and furniture.

Other donors included $5 million from David Rockefeller (NY) and Roda Drilling Co (NY); $3.551 million from Cisco Systems; $2.33 million from Time Warner Inc (NY) including $500,000 in advertising; $2.45 million in computer equipment/service from IBM (NY); $2.3 million from Citrigroup Services; $2.18 million from Verizon Communications (NY) incuding $131,270 in kind; $2.1 million from the IDT Charitable Foundation (NJ); $1.7 million from Vornado Two Penn Plaza LLC in office rent; $1,614,380 from Pfizer Inc. (NY) including $39,380 in-kind; $1.15 million from Goldman Sachs & Co (NY); $1.1 million from Merrill Lynch(NY); $1.05 million from UBS Piane Weber/UBS Financial Services; $1 million from A G Spanos Construction Co (CA) and Amerada Hess Corp (NY) and Golden Eagle Industries Inc (NC) and John Hancock Life Insurance Co (MA) and Carl Lindner (OH), and the Hearst Corp (NY) and the Henry R Kravis Foundation Inc (NY) and Yankeenet (NY).

Other large donations were $959,172 from Monster Worldwide (NY) in database development; $822,606 from Microsoft all but $150,000 in computer software and services; $750,000 from NYT Capital Inc and $750,000 in advertsing from the New York Times; $717,323 from Geller & Co (NY); $635,000 from Bank of America (NY); $600,000 from GFInet Inc (NY) and Novartis Financial Corp (NY); $550,000 from American Express; $500,000 from Bear Stearns & Co. of which $250,000 was refunded; $500,000 from Lehman Brothers Inc (NY), MetLife (NY), Morgan Stanley (NY), New Balance athletic Shoe Inc (MA), AT&T, Univision Management, AstarZeneca Pharmaceuticals, Bruce Kovner, Merck & Co, Deutsche Bank, Fedex Corp, Julian Robertson, American Int'l Group, Gilder Foundation and MacAndrew & Forbes Holdings.
