John Titor Story
Someone in the "alt.binaries.sounds.radio.misc" newsgroup posted an audio file called...
The John Titor Story - The Unexplained - The John Titor Story - The Unexplained -09-12-2005.MP3
He/she just started to post it. I may grab it, but I might not have time to, and I'll be leaving soon.

What I wish I knew right now, is where is Fred Vobbe. When he said he was leaving up above, I thought he meant he was going to the grocery store or something. But this is actually one of his last posts. Wish he'd check in. 'Specially now.
At any rate. Aside from the American Civil War -- the existance of which I actually think is arguable -- it's my understanding that the next big thing to watch for is the 2006 or 2008 Olympics. If they're cancelled due to trouble in the world. Which is the best/worst thing about John Titor. Unlike several remote viewers and psychics we could mention, we'll actually know someday whether or not he was real. We may even know someday soon. He built his own credibility into the story. It's ironic, really.
Thanks for the contribs Drnewel and Alien U_K. I've actually seen that link before A_UK, and I don't completely get what it's all about. But I so appreciate it. As I said to Fred, anything anyone can share on John Titor is of great interest to me.

let's take this discussion into a new reality, fast than light travel, able to reach mars in 3 hours, this is called the z machine that could possibly go into another dimension to this achieve this feat. check out the news report at the below site.
now, if this is fast than light travel then would our reality of time be different so that titor can come and go in time with this technology?
check out the site at:

ps: even paul harvey did a segment on his radio news show today jan.7 on this and even he was thrilled about this info.

'This is the same model of computer John took back to the future. Its an IBM Series 5100, type 5110 '.
Going to contact IBM about this old boat anchor of a computer. Find out from them if it has any exclusive features or operation parameters that cannot be found on computers since its manufacture. John said the operating system in this unit was the only unit capable of fixing his future past problem.

Titor:
IBM got back to me and it seems from what I can tell Titor was after the last machine offering APL APL PROGRAMMING LANGUAGE, the last year being 1975 IBM.
FROM: IBM
IBM 5120
Computing System
Weighing approximately 50 pounds and sized slightly larger than an IBM typewriter, the 5100 Portable Computer was announced by the company's General Systems Division (GSD) in September 1975. The Portable Computer was intended to put computer capabilities at the fingertips of engineers, analysts, statisticians and other problem-solvers. Available in 12 models providing 16K, 32K, 48K or 64K positions of main storage, the 5100 sold for between $8,975 and $19,975. The 5100 was available with either APL or BASIC — or both — programming languages.
If the size and weight of the 5100 seems huge by today's standards, then the Portable Computer was very slender compared to a late-1960's IBM computer with the equivalent capability. Such a machine would have been nearly as large as two desks and would have weighed about half a ton.
Two years after launching the 5110, IBM introduced its 5120 Computer System in February 1980 as the lowest-priced IBM computer to date. A representative configuration — which included a main storage capacity of 32,768 characters of information, a 120 character-per-second printer and the BASIC programming language — could be purchased for less than $13,500. Overall system prices ranged from $9,340 to $23,990.
The 5120 Computer System featured the new desktop IBM 5110 Model 3 computer and two previously announced products: the IBM 5103 models 11 and 12 bidirectional, matrix printers; and the IBM 5114 diskette unit with up to 2.4 megabytes of direct access storage.
If this is so it lends to his need to to search pre 1980 for APL Lanuage based machine

Wow, Clatu. You may have possibly come closer than any person on earth to cracking this thing with solid information. My admiration and thanks.
Out of devilish curiousity, did you just inquire about the model, or did you mention John at all? It is said that he has a bit of a cult following on the insides of IBM. They believe it, too!
Again Clatu, Wow.

P.S. The last time I checked (and I check often), Oliver Williams' site (http://www.johntitor.com) hasn't been updated since July. For whatever...reason. But should he come back, I think you should E-mail him this, or anyone else who follows the case as closely as we do here.
There is another forum...??I can't remember it???
edit: It is: http://www.abovetopsecret.com
Not as good of a forum as the Ship though! Finding an active Titor thread may be a chore.
What you've done here is really important, Clatu.

Found some of JTs words today, ie:
"...The first "leg" of my trip was from 2036 to 1975. After two VGL checks, the divergence was estimated at about 2.5% (from my 2036). I was "sent" to get an IBM computer system called the 5100. It was one the first portable computers made and it has the ability to read the older IBM programming languages in addition to APL and Basic. We need they system to "debug" various legacy computer programs in 2036. UNIX has a problem in 2038."...
There's all kinds of other stuff there but that stuff is signed on copyright.

As some are aware, JT managed to move around time using an apparatus in a box appx 20" x 42" x 18" deep with a remote control box. I had read his story first when it posted on the internet while JT held chat on line.
One thing that kept coming back to me that did'nt sit well and still does'nt is the remote control patch between the remote control and the 'apparatus'.
Why is a device from 30 years in our future connected to a remote control using what appears to be an /80s type heavy wound telephone curly cord? This may seem insignificant but it is a reasonable question. We're using fibre optics now and is your children's nintendo control patched with a heavy telephone curly cord -- no. Look at the abuse that thin nintendo cord gets day to day and was designed to tolerate.

Round and Round
A lot of us have gone around and around on this whole thing. There was an article in a Larry Flint publication about this story.
The type of an engineering part for a project or a fix for something is exactly what it is - a specific part for a project - and that's it. A part number that is specific for a part does not itself mean anything, but it does say that some one with experience in engineering knows enough that specific part numbers are required for engineering tasks. In other words - you wouldn't go back in time to travel to get just any kind of computer - you would be after a certain make and model, and that is what is disturbing about the story.
This still is bascily a tall tale.
