Terraforming the Earth, Taken Seriously
"The problem isn’t that we don’t yet know enough to be able to say “yes” to geoengineering with any certainty; the problem is that we don’t yet know enough to be able to say “no,” and mean it"

Arctic sea ice response to atmospheric forcings with varying levels of anthropogenic warming and climate variability
"Numerical experiments are conducted to project arctic sea ice responses to varying levels of future anthropogenic warming and climate variability over 2010–2050. A summer ice-free Arctic Ocean is likely by the mid-2040s if arctic surface air temperature (SAT) increases 4°C by 2050 and climate variability is similar to the past relatively warm two decades"

The 2010 Living Planet Report - (pdf - 24MB)
"Species are the foundation of ecosystems.... Healthy ecosystems form the basis of all we have – lose them and we destroy our life support system... The report shows that continuing of the current consumption trends would lead us to the point of no return"

The Gulf Stream & The Next Ice Age 51:29
"The Gulf Stream and the Next Ice Age is a one-hour documentary which explores the results of a recent American government report that believes the collapse of thermohaline circulation will take place around the year 2010 and impose a minor ice age on Europe. Could Dublin acquire a climate like Spitzberg, and London like that of Siberia? The Gulf Stream is a powerful surface current, driven by the Trade Winds.

Its origins lie in the Gulf of Mexico and it carries the tropical waters from the Florida Strait to the great banks of the United States, where it heads eastward, carrying its warm waters to the borders of the North Atlantic. As soon as the tropical waters hit the Arctic Ocean, they cool abruptly and plunge towards the abyssal zone to form a loop, known as “thermohaline circulation.” Then, like an immense conveyor belt that slows down in the ocean depths, it sets out again southward to rejoin the beginning of the Gulf Stream"

Sailors, Storms and Science: How Royal Navy logbooks help us understand Climate Change - MP3 - 24:59

Dr Dennis Wheeler, from the University of Sunderland, discusses the use of historical Royal Navy logbooks in studies of climate change, focusing on the archival resources rather than scientific conclusions. The Ships' logbooks were the main resource used to monitor the weather in the oceans. Officers onboard kept careful records of the daily, and sometimes hourly, climate conditions. What that means today is modern researchers are able to find out what the weather was like anywhere in the world on a particular day

Climate commitment in an uncertain world - AGU

Fundamental constraints preclude Earth returning to pre-industrial temperatures for the indefinite future. These same constraints mean that observations are currently unable to eliminate the possibility that we are already beyond the point where the ultimate warming will exceed dangerous levels

ARkStorm: California’s other "Big One" - USGS

For emergency planning purposes, scientists unveiled a hypothetical California scenario that describes a storm that could produce up to 10 feet of rain, cause extensive flooding (in many cases overwhelming the state’s flood-protection system) and result in more than $300 billion in damage.

July 2012: hottest month on record for contiguous United States
Drought expands to cover nearly 63% of the Lower 48; wildfires consume 2 million acres

The average temperature for the contiguous U.S. during July was 77.6°F, 3.3°F above the 20th century average, marking the hottest July and the hottest month on record for the nation. The previous warmest July for the nation was July 1936 when the average U.S. temperature was 77.4°F. The warm July temperatures contributed to a record-warm first seven months of the year and the warmest 12-month period the nation has experienced since recordkeeping began in 1895.

Precipitation totals were mixed during July, with the contiguous U.S. as a whole being drier than average. The nationally averaged precipitation total of 2.57 inches was 0.19 inch below average. Near-record dry conditions were present for the middle of the nation, with the drought footprint expanding to cover nearly 63 percent of the Lower 48, according the U.S. Drought Monitor.

This week we are finally going to have highs in the upper eighties after weeks of temps in the nineties, most in the upper range into the 100s. Whatever the cause, this will definitely effect our sick economy..

If any of you have any doubts about "chemtrails" being real, PLEASE watch this new DELL COMPUTER commercial:

http://www.popisms.com/TelevisionCommer ... esent.aspx

Now... will you please weigh-in and tell me - if chemtrails aren't going to eradicate our abilities to SEE THE STARS one day in the near future, why has this commercial been aimed directlyaimed at ourCHILDREN so that when it happens, they will have been previously programmed to think that the only way to actually see STARS, again, they'd have to see them ONLY on a computer?!!!! And worse yet... that it's going to be a normal thing to expect...

All well-thought-through comments welcome.

Dell pockets $476M federal government contract

Posted on 26 May 2011 by Marc Speir. Tags: Austin, Computers, Contract, DELL, Department of Veteran Affairs, Federal, Fiscal Report, government, Shares, U.S., U.S. VA, VA

Round Rock-based Dell Inc. (DELL) was chosen by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to provide computer equipment and hosting services for more than 1,200 VA sites nationwide. Dell landed the four-year, $476 million contract to provide 600,000 personal computers and monitors along with deployment services and computer support for the VA.

The No. 2 computer maker worldwide is also charged under contract to improve access, manageability and security of its end-user computing environment.

Dell released a $2.63 billion profit from $61.4 billion in revenue after the company’s fiscal 2011 report was posted in late January. It was an improvement from 2010′s $1.43 billion profit off $52.9 billion in revenue.

How Much Do IBM and Dell Get In Federal Contracts? Let's Take A Look...
By Edward F. Moltzen, CRN October 10, 2006 A new website, Fedspending.org, has launched and provides data -- never before gathered and shared in this manner -- about U.S. government spending.
Put together by OMB Watch, Fedspending.org's database provides a searchable way to cull through hundreds of billions of dollars worth of federal contracts to see who is getting what. For taxpayers, this is a unique bit of transparency.

For companies, including high tech's big shots, this is the opening of the kimono: A detailed look into just how much business they do each year with the U.S. government.

According to the database for fiscal year 2005:

IBM did $943,896,510 worth of business with Uncle Sam, including $276,748,609 in contracts where there was an open competition but only one bid;

Dell did $898,650,122 worth of business with the federal government, including $405,900,511 in contracts where there was "full and open competition but only one bid;"

Hewlett-Packard did $369,836,819 worth of government contracts, including $132,263,969 in contracts where HP was the only bidder in an open process.

The database also lists GTSI, the government reseller and integrator, as having received $575,297,037 worth of government business in fiscal 2005. The U.S. government did $223,027,773 in transactions with CDW's government unit.

The database even lets you drill down and see some details of each, individual contract on a contract-by-contract basis. For example, the U.S. Defense Department paid Apple $34,947 in one deal for "photographic equipment."

All data for each company is according to federalspending.org's database, which relies on government records. But OBM Watch provides this disclaimer:

The data are often missing parts or sections and at times are significantly limited in its usefulness. This is solely because of the way the government collects and manages the information. OMB Watch is not responsible for the quality of the data and hopes the use of this website will prompt the government to improve the quality of the information it collects and provides to the public.

"Instapundit" Glenn Reynolds writes:

"Bit by bit, this stuff is becoming more accessible. Will that make a difference?

"It will, if people want it to make a difference.

"And they should."

Well, if you do business with the U.S. government, and you want to know where you can outflank your competition, it could make a difference, too. Although that might not be what OMB Watch had in mind when it created it.

I wonder if any pirates have tried the following... Buy enough food for 23 days, clear one's schedule, disconnect the landline, take the battery out of the mobile. Tell anyone who may come visiting that you will be away for the month. Then make a completely light proof room in your home. (not a single photon may enter) Regulate the temperature and remove all clothing... And off you go? After a while the monkey body will adjust. At some point, for some people, something quite unexpected manifests...
