ORR »8-9Oct« ART BELL with Doug Beason

Post by Cpt Spike Mike » 10-08-2006 11:58 PM

Hello out there, and welcome to the Original Radio Room. Tonight, Art's guest will be the associate director at Los Alamos National Laboratory Doug Beason. They'll talk about the new field of directed energy weapons (some lethal, some not) being fielded by the US military and how they will change warfare in the future.

Hold up: Art will call upon former Ian Punnett guest Kenneth Sewell for the first hour. They'll be discussing the recent nuclear test (as claimed) performed by North Korea.

Hmmm, according to Ken, both China and Russia aren't particularly happy with North Korea's test. Maybe they'll take the heat: no pun intended.

Hey alphacentura, good to see you. :)

I really don't think that North Korea has much of a chance of getting to the US coast in a noisy diesel-electric submarine. These things can be heard for hundreds of miles by the Seawolf class of hunter-killer subs operated by the US.

And the latest Seawolf (SSN 775) is named USS Texas! :D

I hear you Spike! That said though, the world is a large place. As good global citizens I think we should be concerned about the global impacts and not just how this may or may not affect us in North America..JMHO ...

Hi Dale :)

Hey Dale, hope you had a good time with your northern relatives.

I'm not really that worried about north Korea, as I think they have other, closer enemies than the United States. Japan, Taiwan, and in particular South Korea, which is probably freaking out right now. Earlier, Art said the South Korean stock market is plunging.

I apologize, as I posted that the USS Texas is a Seawolf-class submarine. She is a Virginia-class submarine. Sorry, I was never good in class. :D

And yes, I can almost promise you that there are US submarines in the waters around the Korean peninsula, with more probably on thier way as pointed out by Kenneth. I can't tell you exactly where they are 'cause I don't know. But rest assured they are hanging around.

Art asked my FastBlast question I can't believe it!

I fast blasted him about the specific signature of each nuke stockpile. I'm glad someone finally called a guest on this BS theory that terrorists will get their hands on a suitcase nuke. The US won't care if Al Qaeda did it or not, they will come calling on the nation that produced it.

See you later, Dale, take it easy.

I also see Dominic & Janus232 hanging around. I'm sure Janus (in Thailand) is quite concerned about this.
