Shellball

Similar to football, Shellball is a game played on the Main Deck of the USS Texas. Here's a shot of me catching on interception in the end zone. The final score was Volunteers 32 : Ship's Crew 28. :D

Okay, I admit it: it's not a real 14-inch shell {no sh@t, Spike!!} and we don't really play Shellball on the Main Deck. The game is more like a bastardization of soccer & water polo. :D

What I'm holding is basically a molded, hollow, plastic 14-inch shell prop. They're are fourteen of them in all, and they're to be used down in Turret #5's Shell Room. Close to two years ago, we moved five real 1,4OO-pound shells down there (what an ordeal) and these will be used to fill in the space for the Hard Hat Tours, Vet's Reunion, etc.
