As far as I know, BB-35 suffered no damage from Hurricane Rita. And it could've been very bad, as this was taking place during that week. That's the forward mooring column's retaining collar, sitting on that platform. The collar was removed to replace the black nylon runners. This photo was taken September 17th.

And the latest word is the Ship's Veterans' Reunion is stillscheduled for this weekend. In an e-mail, Chuck Moore told us there was no damage sustained by the ship in the storm, but the ship is still without power. Also, the ship, the monument and San Jacinto State Park have all been closed since the 21st.

Excellent news, Spike! ;) I hope they get the power back before the Veterens' Reunion.

Yes Mark, the park was open and power was restored by Saturday, and we had a good event. The mooring column restoration continues as scheduled; this shot shows the restored front column (of the forawrd pair) repainted and reattached to the ship.
