Don't know how this would affect Medicaid. The government dept. (CMS) covers both Medicare AND Medicaid, but it seems that the two-midnight rule applies only to Medicare.

I do think though, that left unchallenged, that the government will continue to push the envelope and extend the lack of coverage incrementally, to include other conditions as more people get enrolled. Luckily there are a number of legal challenges out there.......

Time for the AARP to do something about this mess -- for seniors who have to go to the hospital. IF they are admitted - it most certainly is for medical reasons. IF it was just for observation - they don't need to be in a hospital, but could be observed at home or nursing home or senior housing people.

Maybe hospital should complain about having to "admit" anyone for a mere observation on an overnight basis... but - that too could be a problem considering some injuries do not truly manifest themselves immediately.

---
Seems prisoners get better treatment from the gov't. Illegals get better treatment.

TIME for seniors to rise up and DEMAND the same.

The one thing I've discovered about the AARP is that they're interested in selling insurance....... Joined a few years back - seems that I'm inundated with offers to buy insurance from them

oh yes - all groups are interested in selling insurance...

Do have good car insurance connected to them.

BUT - I have contacted three AARP - higher ups about going after the gov't about this medical thing. I also have contacted my state REP in DC....

I suggest everyone do the same thing!!

AHA - last night my House rep reported on having a meeting (this last weekend here in the area) with concerned citizens about ObamaCare. From notes today (from email received) - at least five local families reported that they were informed of new higher pay due starting July 1. Two were families with children (one with two and one with three) - that said their new rates were almost 250% of what they had been paying with their old insurance. The other two were married couples (children grown) who were not old enough to retire. They said their insurance was going up and would far exceed the so called $2500 savings from prior insurance. She noted one of the couples - woman is a cancer survivor.

I hear ya.........

Read this today. The "good part" is that more people have insurance who didn't before. The "bad parts" (yes, its plural) is that Medicaid is taxpayer subsidized that would be you, btw), and, Medicaid typically doesn't pay enough to cover the expenses incurred for providing the care (which is why increasingly doctors and hospitals are opting out.

BUT, people have "free" birth control.......

Medicaid Enrollment Has Exploded Under Obamacare

More than one in five Americans are now enrolled in the federal Medicaid program, according to new data released by the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services on Wednesday.

Enrollment in the Medicaid and Children’s Health Insurance Program topped 65 million through April, the month after the end of the first open-enrollment period of the Affordable Care Act.

Overall, since the beginning of the implementation of the Affordable Care Act, Medicaid enrollment has exploded month by month. More than 1.1 million people enrolled in April. And from October through March, which coincided with the Affordable Care Act's open-enrollment period, more than 6 million joined the Medicaid and CHIP programs. This marked about a 10.3% monthly increase from the average monthly enrollment in the months preceding.

Twenty-six states and the District of Columbia expanded their Medicaid programs as part of the law known as "Obamacare," and enrollment in the program increased in both states that did and did not expand.

States that expanded Medicaid saw a 15.3% increase in the program's rolls, and non-expansion states also grew their enrollments by a modest 3.3%.

The latter phenomenon is what's known as the "woodwork effect" — when individuals who were eligible for Medicaid become aware of it because of increased outreach and attention toward healthcare, as would be expected with the implementation of a major health-law overhaul.

In May, Avalere Health released an analysis showing Medicaid enrollment had grown in 17 of the 26 states that did not expand the program. The Obama administration's analysis displayed that it had grown in 18 of those states.

Leading enrollment in the states that have expanded Medicaid were led by Oregon, West Virginia, and Nevada, three states who saw their Medicaid rolls jump by about 40%.

The Obama administration noted, however, that many circumstances could have influenced the uptick in sign-ups other than the healthcare law kicking into effect. This is because it's difficult to count Medicaid enrollment on a month-to-month basis, given the fact people's eligibility depends on factors like their income, their children's ages, and whether or not they're pregnant.

"It is important to note that multiple factors contribute to the change in enrollment between April 2014 and the July-September 2013 baseline period, including but not limited to changes attributable to the Affordable Care Act," the Department of Health and Human Services said in a statement.

Separate from the Medicaid expansion, more than 8 million people signed up for coverage through private insurance exchanges established by the Affordable Care Act through April, surpassing the Obama administration's original goals.

Sorry, Citizen, We’ll Need You To Return Those ObamaCare Subsidies
Critics of ObamaCare warned us this was going to happen over a year ago. Now the day has arrived, and it’s going to be a mite uncomfortable for folks who suddenly discover they weren’t eligible for some portion of their ObamaCare subsidies after all. LINK

Here in my hometown, it appears that there is going to be a revolt of some sort. People (homeowners and other property tax payers) are past fed-up with the constant annual increases in their taxes.

The latest has been the "pay-as-you-throw" scheme/ scam. We've had this for a while in the time I live in but now the city is looking to implement it as well, and the homeowners have had it - all the local government has done is raise the taxes and fees and the city is going down hill fast.

Many people have left the city over the years and those who are left that can are contemplating it because the city is basically left with a large pool of people who don't work - they get all kinds of government (taxpayer) assistance. There are a number of neighborhoods that are run-down - people don't care about the property because they're not paying for anything. In many neighborhoods you can't even walk down the sidewalks because of the gangs. Violence isn't uncommon.

But, this is "good" because, although there are no jobs - and no hope for jobs due to the government's policies and lack of planning, people get Obamaphones, taxpayer-funded healthcare and (can't forget) contraception too.... Oh, and now we're getting illegals flown-in from points south on military planes as well.......

Yup, so much better than what we had before....

Forwarded an article to a coworker of mine who works in our CT Dept that shows what MERS looks like on a chest CT. I've heard that we already have cases here in the US - it's bound to happen. And, things that we thought were eradicated are coming back as well......

kbot - our news last night reported 67 new cases of measles and some chicken pox (did not give # on cp) as well as some other outbreaks. Just this month to date. And yes they are linked.

Sigh---

Over 60,000 kids.

That was the number projected for this year alone on CSPAN for kids entering this country illegally form Mexico and points south.

Not one of these kids is expected to be accompanied by an adult, nor met by an employed adult living here legally in this country.

We're trillions in debt already and now we have to take care of all these kids coming here from Central and South America??? Many Americans and finding it nearly impossible to care for their own families and find jobs, and this administration is sending all kinds of signals to Central and South America to send us THEIR kids as well and we'll provide?

This is a Progressive's wet dream come true - having property owners and other taxpayers take care of the entire world's population because, in their view, "we can...."

Personally, I'd like to see the progressives out there ADOPT all these kids - starting with Barack and Michelle and all the rest on the Far Left who are doing nothing to stop this. They should put their money where their mouths are and "inspire" the rest of the Far Left to act.......

Actually they are talking even greater numbers and worse yet -- some (quite a few according to last reports) are age TWO and younger! NONE are with adults or guardians - nor to any known people (legal or illegal) in the USA. Some have been carried across by other non-related children under age 10. How can one send back these very young babies when its unknown where they really belong, too young to be even talking or know what their names might be? IF some other illegal shows up how can one know for sure (without DNA tests) that they ARE a relative?
---
AND in another news story by an "ANON" or former border guy -- TB is also coming into this nation. Highly contagious!
---

Now the WH admits the "rumors put forth about amnesty" might be causing this. THEN the WH is planning to give monies to these South American countries to help REPATRIATE - the illegals?
