Today I ventured out into unknown territory by using a digital camera. Believe it or not, I've still been shooting film, processing it, and scanning it. OK, I like to hold the photo in my hand, and have book type albums.

A while ago my wife and I purchased a new Canon digital camera, which is compatible with my EOS Rebel lens. Here are some of the efforts.

Dam by the old hospital for the criminally insane.

Mural painted on the back of a building by railroad tracks, painted by students of the local high school.

A nest of robin babies out by our mailbox. Mama robin doesn't like it when I check the box, or get the paper. The box is right on the opposite side of the tree.

Driving out in the county, I came across a home on a back road that had old gas pumps in the front yard.

Railroad diamond in downtown. This was the location were the old B&O and Pennsylvania railroad had their exchange depot for people and freight. B&O was north and south, Pensy was east and west.

That's about all. Still getting used to the camera and trying to figure out what I can do with it.

those are real nice thanks for sharing them. with us. i like the gas pump one
Due to current economic conditions the light at the end of the tunnel has been turned off.

I'll have to pull in and ask the people what that's all about. My guess is that someone there worked for Shell, or owned a Shell gas station in town at one time. Sure was strange.

People collect those old gas pumps. Not sure why. They do look interesting.

There is a show on TV, (Discovery, I think), that is about restorations. Rick is the guy who owns the business.

I've always wondered if it would be feasible to put a modern gas pump inside the body of a retro pump for the ambiance. It probably can not be done with the pumps in the pictures, but unless there is some oddball law about the shape and size of pumps, a 50s style pump should be able to be modified to allow for credit card transactions. Overall, I think the retro look would be an attraction to a station.

Really nice photos.
Mama Robin may not like your being near, but it looks like one of the babies is expecting food. :tonguesmi

I like them all--the colors, the moods, the subject matter. Thanks for sharing.

You're a person who shares my heart... I used to LOVE the Polaroids because I could see the photo instantly, and note whether or not I could get a better shot of it.

Now I have a Canon that allows me the same kind of instant reward, and I can use the ZOOM to check out each section of the photo to make sure nothing's growing out of someone's head, or something ugly is somewhere in the background.

Then, when I get the photos into my computer, I can re-touch them slightly to make them even better.

Once you get used to the new digital, I think you'll wonder how you ever thought going digital might be a disappointment.

I love all the pix you posted.

I have no clue... it's a rose, clearly a hybrid, but it's in a stranger's yard.
