Just went through an earthquake

Post by Raggedyann » 10-27-2012 10:24 PM

I was on my computer and all of sudden everything started swaying. I went out to the kitchen and all my plants were rockin and rollin, so I grabbed the dog and ran out into the middle of the street. I am still trembling. Apparently there were 2 quakes that hit north of me. One was 7.1 and the second was 7.7.

I am located on the northern tip of Vancouver Island Ben. Right on the ocean. My house is up on a very high hill, so I will be fine if a tsunami should hit us.

RA - oh my gosh.

Did Casey exhibit any odd signs prior?

That is a major quake - I keep looking but nothing seems to have been reported yet in terms of damage.

Have you ever been thru an EQ before? I know how very unsettling that is as we live in California - the Northridge quake was in 1994 and before I felt it I heard this tremendous roaring sound like a locomotive was coming down on us.

Let us know how you are:(

I am still a bit shaky Dio. That was a shock. They are evacuating the waterfront residences and downtown area at the moment.

Casey didn't show any unusual behavior prior, but he was shaking like a leaf in my arms when we were standing out on the road. He was aware that something was going on. He and I had shared a salmon treat just minutes before the shaking and he was fine. Emma (kitty) was walking around crying for no apparent reason about half prior to the quake.

Living in California as you do, you know the fear we all live with on the coast.

I will keep you posted.

This is my fourth quake. The last one was 5.6 and the epicenter was only 25 miles away from me. I heard a bang of sorts just before the shaking started. I had been drinking wine that night so I was really confused. LOL.

Oh that's a good one.

I have checked more on line and all news still says no news of damage yet - was the epicenter the Queen Charlotte Islands?

Yes, it was the Queen Charlotte Islands, now called Haida Gwaii.

CNN has the most detailed report that I could find Dio.

Boy had the quake epicenter been in a different area I am sure the outcome would have been different - pretty scary I know.

Thanks for the news source pal and have some wine or whatever you want - you need it.;)

I think I'll give it another hour and then have a glass. I need my "lerts" for awhile yet. :D
