Missed the announcement on the show. Received word yesterday. Sad passing. Shirley was a very good friend to me since my joining the forum a few years back. Joe (who I didn't know, but who appears to have had a deep impression on members), Linnea and now Shirley. My prayers go out for Shirley and her daughter.

Prolific in her thoughts and words and enjoyed and loved the forum - you could tell.

Oh my God no. I'm in shock right now. Please forgive me for not writing something right now. She's a strong and honorable woman who loves life. I'm not yet willing to accept that she's gone.

Others may now try to lay claim to the title of Number One Art Bell Fan, but IMHO none will ever match or surpass her fervor.

Farewell & Godspeed, Shirleypal.

What happened? I missed the announcement last night on Coast. I'm not a member of the Fantastic Forum 2.

Whitley's Journal
June 29, 2012

.... Anyway, I am going to try to chronicle a few things. First, I'd like to say something about life and death. They don't have the same meaning to me that they once did. Death isn't a mystery anymore, but rather I see it as another part of the art of being. What happens is this: during life, we take experience in. We are in an active state. After the life is finished, we enter a passive, or contemplative state. It's breath. Life is breathing in. Death is breathing out. Two sides of a triad: life is the active side, death the passive ....

Very sad news indeed. I'm also shocked - I had no knowledge she was even ailing, but had lost contact since she moved on from here.

My deepest sympathies to her friends and surviving family.

Yes, she certainly was Art Bell's biggest fan - a more loyal follower Art could not ask for.

Just saw this....

SP was so welcoming when I first joined, and she really was Art's #1 fan! I can't believe she's gone, had no idea she was ill...

Haven't listened to Coast to Coast in years, but I have many Art Bell shows Shirley sent me. I'll miss her, as will Biker. Our best to her family. She will be missed.

The Coast to Coast family has certainly suffered a loss...

Safe passage, Shirley (from my heart!)... And yes; you WERE the#1 Art Bell Fan. I think that's why you could never accept anyone else in his place, on Coast to Coast. Times change, and life always goes on, whether we want it to, or not - whether it's here, or wherever we go from here.
