Hi from Tennessee!

Hello! I'm a longtime fan of C2C. Started listening around '95 or so, a couple of years before the whole Hale-Bopp/Heavens' Gate debacle. (I still remember Art getting ill with on people who called it "Hale-Bob.")

I remember being shocked the first time Art unceremoniously left the show; I remember being saddened by the death of Ramona; I remember being bewildered by his sudden re-marriage. I stopped listening when Noory took over, because:

1. I detest Noory,

and

2. I have a "day job" now (used to work the graveyard shift, which is why I started listening.)

These days, I catch Punnet on the weekends, when I can. I really like Punnet, though no one will ever replace classic Art for me... there is just something insanely cool about a host broadcasting out in the desert, out of his own freakin' house, talking about subjects he knows intimately, loves and lives. I remember when Art used to refuse to do commercials for products unless he personally used, and loved, the product....

I wonder if radio will ever have another host like classic Art?

Welcome aboard b33 :)

I don't think there will ever be another Art Bell, and I wonder if the climate in which he got his start will ever be restored. Our media has too few owners now. Let's see if the Dems will do anything about that, and if the Repubs will let them. sigh
We must, indeed, all hang together, or assuredly we shall all hang separately. B. Franklin

Welcome B33fj3rky to Fantastic Forum. I see on your profile that you are a radio producer, what kind of radio do you produce?

I'm a news producer and occasional DJ at an NPR affiliate in Tennessee.

In addition to classic C2C, I'm also a big fan of public radio shows such as "This American Life" and "A Prairie Home Companion."

Oh, and I recently started finding lots of old time radio on Usenet newsgroups--I'm really enjoying things like "The CBS Radio Mystery Theater."

Really, I'm just a big ol' radio dork... :D

Hi b33fj3rky :)

Welcome to our Pirate ship.

"The CBS Radio Mystery Theater" was a great show. I used to await anxiously to listen to E. G. Marshall introduce each program in the 1970's. I purchased DVDs with every episode of it on Ebay about two years ago. It was top quality entertainment unlike most of what is broadcast now.
