They are going to throw an old space suit out of the ISS and have some fun with it. I am not a ham but I was intrigued by the Slow Scan TV picture. Here's a whole new thing I knew nothing about. I guess I thought all you guys were doing was just talking!
I wish I had my radio,
I'd tune it to some friendly voices....

Suitsat: Dead or Alive?

Post by Pam Heinze » 02-04-2006 02:44 PM

I bought my handheld scanner at Radio Shack after work Feb 3 and ran into some friends at WalMart who said they had programmed their scanner and had been watching NASA TV when Suitsat was being released. But when I got up this morning to listen to a pass, I saw the articles declaring Suitsat dead. I listened anyway, just in case. But now they think Suitsat is alive, just weak. A guy in South Africa has audio he thinks is from Suit sat:

A good site for news about Suitsat is here:

It looks like only those with a big antenna will be able to hear it. The suit is tumbling, which makes the message break up.

:(

According to the J-scan, it should be passing overhead here at 9:07 to 9:20 pm. Will point the ole'antenna toward the eastern skies. Hopefully, I'll hear something...
