Do Politicians Really Want Police to 'Let the Rioters Destroy and Kill' With Impunity?

On Monday, Andy Ngo, editor-at-large at The Post Millennial, testified before the House Oversight Committee, powerfully rebutting Rep. Jerry Nadler’s (D-N.Y.) insistence that when it comes to the protests and riots spreading across America after the horrific police killing of George Floyd, the presence of antifa instigators is “imaginary.” Ngo, who has suffered serious injury from antifa attacks, is a living rebuke to such claims.

Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) noted that Ngo’s name did not appear on the Democrats’ web page for the hearing. “Mr. Ngo, why do Democrats try to ignore you?” Jordan asked.

“I don’t know if it’s intentional,” Ngo responded. “I’ve written for very major publications about this very violent threat.” He noted that Portland has experienced “thirty-straight days of violent rioting downtown” following protests over the death of George Floyd.

Jordan asked Ngo to respond to the claim that antifa is “imaginary.”

“Yes, it’s real,” the journalist responded. “When I heard that, I was quite surprised.” He held up police affidavits in criminal cases against self-described members of antifa.

He first presented a record on Amelia Joan Shamrowicz, who allegedly committed arson, criminal mischief (destroying or damaging $1,000 or more in property), and rioting. When police interviewed Shamrowicz’s roommates, they “reported that SHAMROWICZ stated they started the fire using a Molotov cocktail, and she is part of Antifa. SHAMROWICZ was reported to be extremely excited about being labeled a terrorist and was very animated about her hopes that police officers would be killed and injured by the riots. She also stated that she would be going out on another mission and the goal would be to set another fire.”

Seattle Mayor Durkan Very Upset that CHOP's 'Summer of Love' Has Landed at Her House

Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan has been very tolerant of the city’s Capitol Hill Organized Protest, or CHOP. For weeks now, CHOP has squatted on land it doesn’t own and violated the constitutional rights of the 30,000 Americans who live on that land 24/7.

Durkan doesn’t care. She called CHOP the “summer of love” shortly before it became a season of slaughter: Three people have died in the CHOP, including a teenager this past weekend. Residents who did not choose to live in CHOP — they didn’t cross its borders, CHOP’s borders crossed them — now live in fear of Wokistan’s thought police backed by the zone’s armed warlord.

Durkan has said she would send in the city crews and police to dismantle CHOP, but so far she has not. CHOP, the segregationist, secessionist confederacy of woke campus radicals and others, remains. But it seems that even a mass squatting protest that makes national headlines — mostly detrimental to whatever cause they’re pushing — has not attracted enough attention.

Earlier today CHOP took its protest straight to the mayor’s house. The Blaze reports Mayor Durkan was upset.

Durkan released a statement expressing her anger at the protest. She was especially upset that Seattle City Council member Kshama Sawant had joined the protesters at her home.

“Mayor Durkan and her family are in the state program to keep their address confidential because of the death threats mostly related to her work as Seattle’s U.S. Attorney under President Obama. Instead of working to make true change, Councilmember Sawant continues to choose political stunts,” read the statement from her office.

“Tonight she did so without regard for the safety of the Mayor and her family. The Mayor was not even home — she was working at City Hall. Seattle can and should peacefully demonstrate but should not put families and children at risk,” the statement concluded.

So it’s fine with Mayor Durkan if you are subjected to threats and have your free speech and other constitutional rights violated for days and weeks on end. She has allowed this condition to fester for thousands of Seattle residents.

But show up to protest on her doorstep? That’s going too far.
