I for one wold love to use public transport, but, as with just about everything that is semi-government, what we have around here sucks. What there is where I live runs sporadically enough to make it impossible for work. We had public transport from SE Mass to Boston, but that went away in the 50s, and now we have a traffic nightmare with most cars holding one person all going to the same place. Now, over sixty years later they're trying to get trains back.
Don't know what the answer is.
I (think) I know what AOC is trying to say concerning the New Green Deal and FDR - what he did to mobilize the country in the 30s and 40s is unmatched since with many worthwhile projects resulting in facilities still in use.
There may very well be "better" ways to get this done, but I'm not going to rely on the government or the corporations to get it done either.
