Good show Shirleypal.

What actually brought it back to my attention was seeing the movie for the first time. As I said it aired on HBO this past week.

I am only on page #11 on the read, and finding the passion of Joe admirable to say the least. A long with the others and their thoughts...

Since' not seeing the movie on a full screen, which now I am glad I was not among a large or small audience in a movie house, and missing the captivating scenery and surround sound was the price of not seeing it there.

But for me it was viewed while I was in a very nice hotel resort room while in room dinning on a rib steak to go with the western theme.
I loved it. ;)

Knowing before hand what the movie was somewhat about' in the beginning where Ennis and Jack first met up... Signing on for a Shepherds job in the high mountains for months, and only the two of them to watch over the flock, and seeing the actors who played their parts' and how attractive and seductive their physical features were...
You knew you were in it for the long ride.'

more later';)

I just want to give you people a heads-up about the impending release of the two-disc collectors' edition of Brokeback Mountain, which is scheduled to appear on 23 January 2007.

http://dvd.ign.com/articles/747/747704p1.html

Unfortunately, however, this special edition of the film will not contain the all-important commentary by Ang Lee, Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal. C'mon, guys, get off your asses, drop what you are doing, and get together to do that commentary! This is no special edition of the film without it!

O Kay Joe'...
In brief, I think, this is what the movie did for me...

As stated above I was in a place of indulgence...
My sick self, drives me there every so often.
Barona Casino on Wildcat Canyon Rd. if that means anything.
Oh' for the record I haven't got any further in my reading of this thread but the top of pg. 11.
...and yes Joe'
"Let the fundis scream. I couldn’t care less. BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN got me good, just as strongly as it got Jack and Ennis. And just as strongly as it probably will get you too…" - Joequinn'

Yes, Joe, it got me good'...

It may take me a time to get out the feelings' I'd like to express, and I am not sure the thoughts are going to come out as neatly as I would like to express them...

Am I way off track here?
No, not really, I say to myself...

The movie was about love, loss, and why...

Now I think I'm back to reading from the top of page 11.

Yes' Live365' .... I feel this thread is a FF classic. Well worth the reread. Wishing you comfort and joy and a peace night.

... For myself', I'm looking forward to reading it in it's entirety.

I have many, many thoughts myself. Not only on Brokeback Mountain', but the thread itself that is a classic.
Thank you Joe Quinn.

Thank YOU, Jeri Sexton'. I'm not drunk enough to tell you tonight how much you mean to me, but remind me to do that soon.

Love You, Wave. Yes. This thread will be a very intense re-read.

These were the Good Times.

May God protect me, but I miss you too, Miss Shirley.

Of course, the onslaught of insults will now begin.

But I really do miss you. Shirleypal.

Let the reprimands begin. :D

The controversy over the shocking decision last March to deny Brokeback Mountain the Oscar for Best Picture has not died down. Quite the contrary. It is now being put into an overall political context which serves as yet another indictment of the Amerika within which we live:

Maybe John Edwards was right when he talked about the 'two americas' in 2004.

He just did not get the parameters right...

Glad this issue has not died. Great find, Joe.

I found this movie to be one of the most tasteful and haunting
... if you ask me it stacks up against
The Bridges of Madison County and that movie by Redford about the bean wars.

Brokeback Mountain was a treasonous act of terrorism --- it depicted gay people as human beings capable of love. Our civilization cannot survive if such a thing be admitted publicly, so Brokeback Mountain was dealt with, pubicly and decisively. As all will be who challenge the divinely-ordained dispensation of things...

Joe. I am currently watching BBM in HD. I will get back to you. I made it a birthday request. I am sitting alone drinking spiced tea and eating Crème Roulee.

Now lets see what all the fuss is about.;)

Vigo'
Is it your birthday? If so Happy Birthday!

I couldn't sleep so I got up and finished reading this 44? page thread.

I don't know if Brokeback Mountain was or wasn't the best film of the year because I never saw the rest if the nominations for myself to compare...
But I think after seeing the movie one thing stands out for me...
The pain of it all.

I don't watch sex scenes comfortably, but I do remember when Jack tucked Ennis's arm around him, while they were sleeping in the tent. The physical beast came out in Ennis.

As I think back on the film I decided I didn't care for Ennis. He showed no tenderness, no real love. Nor did he with his wife.

Ennis had the real problem. Probably from childhood after the scene which his father made him witness.
'This is what happens to queers'... Yikes!
What parent would put a kid in that position to witness such a crime... ? It wounded and scared him for life, right?

Ennis could not or would not ever know real love.
All he would ever really feel is that love hurts...
Within any relationship he may ever have...
And it did.
And that is the way the movie ended... In pain.
With Ennis loving a garment and a memory.
