Capt. Phil Harris

Okay, laugh if you will, but I love the show "The Deadliest Catch" on Discovery! It's one of the few "appointment" shows Biker and I watch together!

Recently, the Captain of the boat "Cornelia Marie", suffered a stroke. He's always been my favorite, and I'm asking all Pirates to send good vibes to a fellow seafarer!

Here's a link, with a picture of the old salt and his sons.

Sending him good vibes, this is a show that I watch too. He is very young to have had a stroke.

Poor bastard, either his boat is breaking down or his body is. Seems like he can't catch a break.

So sorry to hear that! I like watching as it feeds my need for a pacific northwest connection and I love fishing. I came very close to working on a boat a few years ago but was advised against it. I hope he continues to improve and they have a bountiful season.

Thanks SL! I'm glad I'm not the only one who watches this show!

Saharaka, when I see how HARD these guys work, I can see why you were advised to stay away! I'd be dead in a hour! But it is beautiful up there, isn't it?

When Biker and I first started watching, it was just a lark, flipping through the channels one night. (Biker is a master channel flipper! He doesn't want to know what is on, he wants to know what ELSE is on!!) We were both taken aback on how quickly we became hooked! (No pun, crabbers use pots!) I can't wait for the new season, I hope Phil is back in his captain's chair for years to come!

RIP Captain, gone so young, sail on :(

'Deadliest Catch' captain Phil Harris dies at age 53
Sad news this morning: Phil Harris, captain of the Cornelia Marie fishing boat featured on Deadliest Catch, has died in Alaska. He was 53.
"It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our dad - Captain Phil Harris. Dad has always been a fighter and continued to be until the end," sons Josh and Jake Harris said in a statement on the Cornelia Marie site. "For us and the crew, he was someone who never backed down."

I'm a little surprised by how crushed I am by this! I really liked this man!

I will drink a toast to all the people who sacrifice their bodies for their work.

There are probably billions of them.

Cheers.... to a better day.

I have been watching "Deadliest Catch" for several seasons now. I too am sad to hear of Captain Phil Harris' passing. I loved his sense of humor and raw charm.

My prayers for his families, both on the land and on the sea.
