Here's the scoop:

The film was about one-third of the way through filming at the time of Heath Ledger's death. The film was then put on hold while they tried to decide what to do. They re-wrote parts of the film to allow for its main character (Ledger's part) to go through several 'transformations' and then cast Johnny Depp, Jude Law and Coilin Farrell in those parts. It's co-written by and directed by Monty Python's Terry Gilliam, and looks to be absolutely FANTASTIC! WOW!

Here's a link to the trailer that was released yesterday (if your computer can handle HD, there's an HD version -- click the HD button on the lower right):

Written by Terry Gilliam and Charles McKeown

Directed by Terry Gilliam

Starring:
Heath Ledger
Johnny Depp
Jude Law
Colin Farrell
Christopher Plummer
Tom Waits
Verne Troyer
(Mini-Me)

This film is set for a Christmas Day release in the U.S., as far as I can determine (some reports say October 16, but that is apparently the U.K. release date). If I find out anything different, I'll post. Same for anyone else: if you hear of a confirmed release date, please post it!

I'm (obviously) really looking forward to this film, too! What a cast, eh? Wow. And Terry Gilliam! Awesome. This one will be worth one of my once or twice a year trips to the movie theater, methinks... ;)

IMDB is reporting this film to be released in limited distribution on December 25th. No word on release date for wide distribution. If you have a theater in your area that shows limited release films, art films, etc., I'd check there for news of it close to Christmas.
