California high speed rail

Post by whskyfan » 04-04-2013 01:58 PM

I didn't really know where I should post this but since they think Californians will ride the train instead of driving their cars ( ) I'll put it here.

Has anyone been following the High Speed Rail project here in California? If so what do you think? Yes? No? Any other comments?

Hi Whsky Fan, Try the UNs Agenda 21. I tried to find the site I was going to for information and it is gone so are a lot of other sites on the matter. The plan is to eliminate cars hence big bucks going into bicycle paths and Hi speed train systems. It is a world wide thing. Good / Bad , I don't know, by the time it gets serious, I will be too senile to give a whomp!

Here is a web site I did fined
http://www.democratsagainstunagenda21.c ... ticle.html

seems to me that there is a thread on here about it too.

Did we think it would be any different?

California taxpayers to subsidize high-speed rail -report
7:45pm EDT

SAN FRANCISCO, April 11 (Reuters) - While California Governor Jerry Brown rode a bullet train in China, the libertarian Reason Foundation released a report on Thursday saying the state's planned high-speed rail system will likely need between $124 million and $373 million a year in operating subsidies once its core line is completed.

And so the Browndoggle begins.

It is not as if California isn't in a money crunch like the rest of the country.

I can't believe that California is going ahead with this billion dollar boondoggle.

At the very least let it end in Vegas

Nice idea but nobody wants to leave their cars behind. Will have to consider making it a ferry type train where cars can be brought along with the riders.

What do you expect from a governor who once wanted California to have its own space program?

Just to let you know that you guys are not alone. Oregon has been doing this to the Oregonians for quite sometime. The powers that be are going to get "High Speed Rail" from Portland Oregon, across the Columbia River into Washington State, come "hell or high water" the cost est. are in the billions. They refuse to put it to the vote. They started with the "trick" of building a new freeway and bridge the was "really needed" except the plans where for a smaller freeway than what they have! And super heavy "tolls", it is the rail road they really want. They have got to get us off cars!!!! It is going on everywhere!

My personal take on Jerry Brown is that he is more interested in leaving a legacy than listening to the people he is governing.

As for getting China involved? Yeah let's sell our soul to the devil to see this accomplished.

Rush is right though (don't want a controversy over the fact I occasionally listen to Rush) America is in a state of decline.

What is amazing is that while it is obvious to anyone who pays attention our politicians don't seem to care.

I once formulated a theory that large store chains start out cheap, cheap labor, cheap goods, low costs. As they go on things start to get expensive, unions come in, employees who were glad to have jobs now want huge benefits, goods get more expensive as the same rising costs affect their suppliers.

Then suddenly a new kid on the block comes in, with cheaper goods, low cost labor, lower overhead and the original chain goes into decline and becomes bankrupt. I have seem this happen several times.

I now think the same thing happens to governments, at least until the world stabilizes and everybody in all countries has the same standard of living, something that won't happen for many, many generations to come.

The question becomes: Can a declining civilization in a once prosperous country ever resurrect itself through it's politicians?

Or does it take massive revolt by its citizens and complete revamping of the government for a country to compete once again?

Just read in the local paper that the first 28 miles of track has a bid for just under $1 billion. Of course they say at the end of the story that does not include moving 2 1/2 miles of freeway, etc. etc.

Well, one of my least favorite subjects. The whole town is a mess. Overpasses closed, freeway work, blocks and blocks of property condemned. What a total disaster this thing is...

I'm pretty sure the California high speed boondoggle is going to end up that way. Lots of useless infrastructure, a few miles of track and no train.

The" California High Speed Rail" Boondoggle is in many states. But the ones we are going to hear about the most is Washington, Oregon, and California, all 3 States are under Democrat Control, but of course, that is just useless information? RIGHT?

Snippits of Article:

In comments that may have proven eerily prescient, the mayor of one of the towns through which the rerouted trains travel warned earlier this month that the high-speed trains were dangerously close to cars and pedestrians.

Come back when there is that accident, and try to justify not putting in those safety enhancements, or you can go back now and advocate for the money to do it, because this project was never needed and endangers our citizens,” Lakewood Mayor Don Anderson told transportation officials in early December, according to Seattle’s KOMO News.

" I was just shocked," said Peter Zimmerman of Olympia. "I couldn't believe it. It was like something out of a movie." According to the local TV station, the train was traveling along a new high speed route from Seattle to Portland that had just opened Monday.
