Apptivity? That's eerily similar to "captivity". But I'm a wingnut.

The adult version will be available for installation in self driving cars.

I hate the idea of giving kids ipads. My friends who are very progressive and smart in every other way uses their ipad to babysit.

Is it better than using TV? Maybe, I guess. I had tintin and asterix books, and I think those are better.

I am old I guess.

I see this as a mixed blessing. It's one of those "in the right hands," "in the wrong hands" kinda things.

have you ever seen what kids use them for? I see very little redeeming qualities. It is a video game. Some of them purport to be "educational" but... yeah, no kids like educational games. They want to shoot or kick stuff.

The thing is how they are used, I agree, but I have never seen them used as anything other than a pacifier.

Or a babysitter. I'm afraid I have to agree with you on that point Fan.

I have two grandchildren. My granddaughter is a senior in high school and my grandson graduated last Spring. It's been a long time since I've had little ones in my home. Guess I need to catch up with what's popular for parents of toddlers these days.

My dad got me a truck load of dirt dumped in the back yard. Played on that thing for years and I was the most popular dude in the hood.

Well this is how out of it I am - I just bought our granddaughter a vintage Tiny Tears doll.

I cringe when she wants my IPhone and actually knows how to play Angry Birds and she is only 2 1/2.

The Teddy Bear was named after Theodore Roosevelt following a bear hunting expedition on November 14, 1902. T.R. refused to shoot a bear that had been tied to a tree by his guides, and a subsequent cartoon of the event inspired a Brooklyn toy maker to dedicate a stuffed toy bear in T.R.'s honor.
