My ship is being dry-docked there and I would love to go pay one last visit to her. Maybe we can start planning for a Fantastic Forum Pirate Cruise? What does everyone think about that?

megman, sounds like a demanding yet rewarding project. Seems to me an inside, dry area would be necessary in the cold north but your're the Canadian and you should know. I'm gonna be watching here for updates. Nice Gallery! If you need any help sign me up.

Ya, the Tracker cam. A robotic camera that's web ready that everyone will be able to view AND actually be able to move and zoom via the web. It can also track me as I move around the yard once it all starts.

Financing will be the biggest factor next to the weather as to determining a finish date. To buy a trimaran of the calibre I am building that is ocean ready starts at $100,000 US.

I can have a plaque made up and mounted with the names of any pirates who help to make this happen. Construction funds are important, but not to be over-shadowed by help in the form of knowledge or get-down-and-dirty hands-on.

Any serious help will definitely be rewarded with a cruise on the high seas. It does bunk 6. Book now and book early.

Spike, a big ass tarp is my friend up here. Preliminary plans in my head {{oh no, here we go.......}} will allow me to cover everything nicely and possibly supply heat if necessary.

The worst is the epoxy. 70F and above is reqiured for using it. And everything is epoxied. Including all joints. No glue involved here.

Believe me Dale, a dry, inside area would be a bonus, but that requires more $$$. My yard is big enough to build the hulls.

I BBQ all winter long, so I can cut it if I have too. But the epoxy thing again rears it's ugly head............

There's a way to do the epoxy, I just gotta think about it for awhile. I'm not used to dealing with cold weather here like megman gets. Maybe a steam blower?

Steam would be a no-no Spike.

The idea of epoxing everything is to make it water tight. Using steam heat would introduce moisture in the wood.

My brother builds and restores ole airplanes for his hobby.. and i see him using a heat gun alot.. would that work? He uses some kind of sealer of the fabric if it's and older plane, i'll ask him..

If you ask your brother jeri, he probably uses something commonly referred to as "airplane dope". {{Don't touch it Spike}}

A lot of the older planes used shellac over cloth.

Epoxy when it dries can be extremely dangerous because the curing process generates heat. In large quanities it can be extremely volatile. When laying glass in the epoxy, you do a squeegy process to remove excess epoxy and that excess goes into a can as scrap. After a short period you can't hold the can anymore because of the heat. The scrap can then must be put into a bucket of water to keep it from igniting.

megman, the next thing I could recommend are some high-output propane heaters. Try http://www.mrheater.com They've got a Fire Stick Weed Burner; a wand device that produces 5OO,OOO BTUs. They've also got several other types & models of propane heaters that can be taken & used just about anywhere.
