Dev, I wasn't aware that you had posted information on living in Mexico before but thanks for telling me.

I wish I had the courage you did to move to another Country. I'm sure it's a lot less hectic there then in the U.S.

Wish you the best.......still sending good thoughts your way S.

San Miguel rocks!!!

It's amazing how the rather large Canadian and American expat community is so well intertwined with the Mexican community.

I love Mexico, and my wife and I have been toying with the idea (fantasizing?) of spending winters there once we get a little older.
If I weren't so tied into the system now (mortgage) I'd be so tempted...

BTW I always felt safe, even for the most part in Mexico City in the middle of the night. (Ya just hafta put the bling away and be low key.)

You two have the right idea.
Happy Trails!

I have friends who sold everything (formerly from the Montreal, Canada area) and moved to the Lake Chapala area. They enjoy every minute and at this time are living close to a golf course and get there by the golf cart in their garage. They love the people.

Unfortunately, she developed a major illness. However, she has been attending the clinics and hospital at Guadalajara and at this time is now cancer-free.

They both can't say enough about the friendliness of the natives, the competency of the clinics, the weather, etc., etc.,

Children and family are back in Canada, but they all fly back and forth... great excuse for the northerners to get a winter vacation... and I haven't heard any complaints.

Their social life is busy with people from all walks of life, from Canada, USA and Europe. I don't know where the down-side is, unless it would be just not being in your own country.

I have lived away from Canada and was happy to get back home again, but that was when I was in my 20s and had a future family to consider, as well as elderly parents. Right now, Mexico sounds good.

If anyone is interested in the thought of moving to Mexico, just do a Google search on, "moving to Mexico". There is a plethora of information on web sites put up by people who seem to be delirious about living in Mexico and seem to want everyone else in on the big secret.

To tell you the truth, all the hype about kidnappings, etc., have sort of dried up my desire to visit the place. But hearing about Mexico from people who actually live there and enjoy the experience is getting me thinking about a visit.

have been doing some research. Where Dev lives pretty pricey for buying and renting at least what I have seen on line.

The lake you speak about they say is very polluted but it is a small community away from the hustle and bustle.

I'm still researching though.
