WOW! Nearly 500 guests on line at one time? Versus 1% of that figure who are members that post something in a given week, or even a month? -

A 10 to 1 ratio. That's eyebrow raising
Image

I dunno if it's that there's something about the handful here that keeps the FF fresh that has unregistered visitors coming back, or the vast archives, or both, or something else entirely

What's really a mystery to me is what's stopping them from joining up and posting. Seemingly there's a lot of folks out there who like what the FF has to offer, but can't or won't take the time to reciprocate. What's up with that?

Is it whatever they might post, they don't think they'd ever come close to our level - In other words, we who have been contributing regularly are just too interesting?...

Yeah, that must be it.

340 + were self inspired to show up again at 8:00 AM CST today November 6, 2018!

Yeah! That's it! 😌 Who am I to disagree with you Riddick!😁 'Never So Few' was a great war movie title that fits FF as we too few honor the originator Linnea's life with each entry. 👼

Well now Riddick. It's not like there's no reasons for the newest guests to register at FF. A forum that's still dedicated now to an American radio icon, Art Bell. We few can offer a big thanks to your dedication to the hugely popular Art Bell -"Somewhere In Time" thread! :D

That view count is tops my friend! :o

That old things to do list......

What's their motive if we never see their spam thanks to FAN? It must be a waste of electricity for a robot without a voice.

Just a theory I have been thinking about. And I can't find much information (yet). But , I'm thinking the little guys are everwhere on the internet, all looking for info and a place to live, like on your computer, to report on every thing you do, like your Smart TV, that also spies on you. Same for Servers, I would think. No where does it specify, lf the visitor hits are human or machine............just a thought.

For instance.........those wonderful "Robo Calls" we are cursed with. The majority lately are from dis- connected numbers. There is something out there finding those numbers. Yes?

According to the yearly report published by Stockholm-based phone number-identification service Truecaller, spam calls grew globally by 300 percent year-over-year in 2018. The report also found scam calls subjecting victims to fraud attempts and money swindling are still a prevalent issue.

Government agencies and companies worldwide are scrambling to get on top of the problem. In the U.S., both the House and Senate held hearings on the issue of robocalls this year. The FCC urged telecom operators to stop robocalls by next year. And some are pushing for stronger measures.

I just found out that someone in my apartment complex got scammed out of a bunch of money, recently.

Why? Any one would bite on these robo calls, is beyond me! Especially giving them a SS# or a bank account #!

Our greed for "Free Stuff" and "Scare Tatics" turns the human brain into mush, so we don't pay attention to the Real Stuff. "Discernment" is a lost art, so necessary in our survival. I hope I never go "Wacky" enough to buy all those "Bridges To No-Where".

Sadly all the more and all too much these days, reason takes a back seat to emotion. That's what robocall scammers (and no small number of politicians!) count on -

Offers of "free stuff" should set off LOTS of alarm bells. Instead, for intellect challenged folks it's dive right in head first, ask questions never.

Such a terrible thing to waste... Why have a brain if you're not going to use it??

I had to check to see if I was fake?..................I think I am as real as possible, I would have made myself Much younger, prettier , richer, and pain free! Stuck in reality. :?

Over 40 percent of activity on the internet is fake
As the internet becomes more fake, so do its users

By Cal Jeffrey on December 28, 2018, 6:16 AM 14

In context: New York Magazine published an interesting piece in its "Intelligencer" section opining that most of the internet (including its users) is fake. While I don't necessarily agree with everything put forth in the article, it does make several salient and interesting points.

White Ops recently reported on the indictments of two advertising-fraud operations — Methbot and 3ve. Both scams involved fooling advertisers into thinking their ads had been placed on prominent websites and received copious amounts of attention. However, it turned out that everything from the ad views to the sites was fake. This led New York Magazine to the question: “How much of the internet is fake?”

Perhaps stating that more than 40 percent of the internet is fake is not a surprise, but it is interesting to note nonetheless. Some studies have shown that less than 60 of traffic on the internet is human. Bots became so widespread on YouTube in 2013 that developers were afraid their algorithms would start interpreting bot behavior as human and human traffic as bots.

The prevalence of bots on the internet is no secret, but it has led to the point of not knowing what is real on the internet.
