Tomorrow might be my last day here, unless I can carve out time Friday. Saturday I head south.

My initial plans were to spend three weeks, but it appears that I've been overly optimistic in this timeline. Given the complexity and length of travel I may just opt for an open end until I feel I've done all I can. Meanwhile, it's also apparent that the forms of communication which we have come accustomed to are light-years ahead of what I may be able to use. Simply, graphics, pictures, and complex code in web pages will probably force me to abandon some on-line services, such as the Fantastic Forum.

The best I can squeak out of the sat system is 2400 baud, and that's if the BER is decent. A cloudy day and it's down to 1200 or even 300 baud. The plan is to have an IT friend see if we can proxy something to strip out all the pics and code, leaving only text. I have no idea how that will work, but it's worth a try. I'll try to post, but there is no guarantees.

Hopefully I come back OK, perhaps a little less heavy, but mostly tuned in to the unknown. It will be the trip of my life.

As should I not come back, I will my sick sense of humor to Riddick and my soul to RA. :)

Notes from VOguy,

7/31/2016

Seems more info posted today on the NG.
Post from someone calling themself "Sail0r" said
Art is not well and used the word Terminal.

Got into Ministro Pistarini International after 13
hour 20 min in plane (UGH!) I'm chillin now.
Tomorrow I meet with two fellows I've worked
with on projects before. One will stay here &
other will go with me. I think we will set out
tomorrow for our destination. Weather is crap.
55 and humidity of 90%. Rain is coming in by
Thurs-Sat so we will try to beat it. I'm stoked
for this!!!! As you say, Let the Adventure Begin.

BTW. I tried logging on to FF from the hotel and
for some reason it is blocked. That could be the
hotel and I will try later. GMAIL works, for now,
but I have to VPN to home which makes the
connection slow. I'll try to stay in touch best I
can.

Sorry for the delay in Posting! VO Reached his destination Aug 5. When he gets back, I'm sure he will post a whole bunch!

AUG 13TH

I'm having problems getting on line. There is just
no speed for a decent connection. I am starting
to write a journal which I think will turn into a book
later. For the most part it has been VERY
interesting. Living is somewhat like camping but
civil and accommodating. I have no problem
staying here as long as I need.

VO

AUG 20TH

No clouds and I have a good connection for now.
It has been interesting here, and I'm learning a lot.
The culture is much different that combative society
we have in many locations in North America. The
mix of both Germanic culture and what I believe as
star beings makes for an interesting combination.
The one thing which is also interesting is how those
in Germany and northern countries were "drawn"
here. The best analogy I can make is how did they
know to all come here and fan out over the country-
side. The parallel to this may be similar to that of
the exodus of ancient population to other regions.
I've definitely decided a book is in order, however
I promised the people here that they may review
to make sure nothing said would lead to someone
with bad motives invading their culture. If not for
my love of the north and snow, I could get used
to this. More later. - VO

SEPT 5TH

It has been so interesting, and I have found so many
facts, I decided to stay a while longer. I have started
the book, and I'm allowing the people here to read
what I'm writing to make sure there is no threat to their
civilization. This is an odd mixture of old middle northern
European (German) culture and others. Its fascinating
to me how conflict, laws, governance, and daily life are
dealt with. I'm not sure that most would understand,
but in a few years or a decade we may not have a
platform from which to object. Simply put, if the so-
called civilized world does not get on board it may
be that the decisions will be made for them.
Working title of book still to be determined but I will
guarantee an interesting read. I might even see if
George Knapp would be interested in a copy.
Life here is good. Conveniences are slim, but there
is no harm or reason to go home just because of
lack of TV. I do have a shortwave radio to hear the
news. But it is nice to be divorced from phones, text
messages, sirens, and obnoxious people. I could get
used to being here if I didn't have a love of the north
and the largest lake. Best to all.

VO

4GOT to mention. Now that Olympics are over the
connection is better from here to Brazil.

Sounds like a great place to be. I wonder....If I would adapt to a much simpler life, actually my life is very simply lived. I would be happy to relieve myself of my "political obsession" though , may have work on that one?

From Voguy

Oct 8, 2016

Things are going amazingly well. To say this has been
an education is a gross misunderstanding of the facts.
I've learned SO MUCH which is contrary to the accepted
historical record, however the proof is undeniable. I also
realize that I have maybe 3 - 5 months here before I'll
have to leave. It is disappointing to leave however there
is the potential for something exciting and new on the
north side of the equator. My days have been flush with
learning and writing. I'm more convinced as ever that a
book is in order. Stay safe.

A Letter From VOguy

Post by Riddick » 01-01-2022 02:58 PM

SOURCE: Toledo Blade

To the editor: Forget cartoons, we've got real problems
Oct 4, 2021
11:00 PM

I noticed yet another letter to the editor complaining about editorial cartoons in The Blade, “Blade cartoon perpetuates Trump sickness,” Sunday. Can we prioritize our outrages on more pertinent issues?

Should not our outrages be focused more on Congress and Senate, with their wasteful spending, undignified and child-like antics, and quest for eliminating all rights and liberties? Should we not be concerned about the slow death of Lake Erie due to talk and no action? Should we not be focused on our economy which is causing businesses to fail, and goods and services to be unavailable? Should we not be concerned that our hospitals and emergency responders are suffering PTSD and many are leaving either by their choice or woke management?

Can we agree that this country is deep trouble, and the fighting over whose fault it is only provides more pain. And are you not the least bit concerned that the murder rates are going up, not because of a gun, but because of all types of weapons and anger utilized by feral people who law enforcement can not rein in? Come on, folks. Use some common sense. Getting mad at a cartoon, or former President Donald Trump does nothing to fix problems. Identify the real problems and solve those without it being partisan or pointing your perception of blame.

I very much appreciate his letter. Brings things right to the front line. Where in the hell are the "Grown Ups"?

That's very pleasant to know he is still , hopefully around. I lost touch, I always wanted to know what he "discovered " on his journey and if he he got his place ,out of the "loop" . Have you communicated with him Riddick?

I've not, yet missing his FF presence, now & then I'll search for online footprints. IIRC he'd talked of retiring from his Lima TV gig, but from what I glean he took a promotion & the duties keep him more than busy. He's like Art, it's in his blood...

Btw a while back he posted this George Knapp UFO story
