Haunted Hooters?
Edited & exerpted from WGN's June 2nd report by Larry Potash:
" If you go to Hooters, you are likely to do a double-take -- are they real? I am referring to, of course, the weird things that are reportedly happening underneath Hooters Restaurant downtown.
While tight-shirts and short shirts leave little to the imagination, eerie sights and sounds in the basement have people wondering about spirits.
'There are weird corridors that make your hair stand on end,' said Allie Borden, marketing coordinator at Hooters. 'Things will fall from the shelves for no reason.'
OK, so the typical 'spirits' you find at Hooters are the liquid kind that inspire male tourists' creepy whistles and grabbing hands; the waitresses are used to that. But the spirits Borden is talking about aren't 80-proof. Some believe they are trapped souls.
On Sunday, a team of ghost-hunters will spend the night in the building trying to detect these spirits. They will document 'The Hauntings of Hooters' for a show called Dead Famous: Ghostly Encounters on the Biography Channel.
It seems that the basement of the building where Hooters is located was used as a morgue after the 1915 Eastland cruise ship disaster on the Chicago River in which 844 people died.
The building at Wells & Erie has been many things since then, but over the last several years it has been a Hooters, and occupants there have allegedly experienced supernatural phenomenon.
'Our manager was standing there and a piece of glass shot at him and no one was down there,' Borden said. 'An expert came in to run tests and found three spirits. They don't mean any harm, we're told, but our manager begs to differ.'
Who ya' gonna call? How about Chicagoland Paranormal Researchers, a team of seven people with electronic devices and a special 'gift' for perceiving the unknown. They'll join the Biography Channel shoot at Hooters.
Roy Baggio, 40, of Chicago Heights manages a fine jewelry store in Oak Brook by day. By night, he tests for magnetic fields and mysterious light in attempt to confirm the living dead. He and his team conducted a pre-investigation of the Hooters building with 'Dead Famous' host Chris Fleming.
'We caught some orbs (balls of light.) The theory is it's the easiest form for a ghost to move in our environment,' Baggio said of his team's initial investigation of the building. 'EVPs showed a woman's voice (saying): Wait 'till they leave.' EVP stands for electronic voice phenomenon.
Baggio said during the pre-investigation of Hooters, Fleming used a tape recorder to capture voices from 'the great beyond.' Baggio says electrical readings, orbs and especially EVPs are the key to experiencing ghosts.
'We are still trying to find out what these things are,' Baggio said. 'Trying to analyze it is hard.' "
In conclusion, Larry skeptically states, "If there is a portal to a great beyond, I doubt that one has to pass through wing-dings and short-shorts to get there." Yah, that's what HE thinks!
Hmm, interesting. I've been there many times and never heard of this.
Too bad it's Dead Famous going in there and not Ghost Hunters . DF is a very lame show & that guy's schtick when he "channels" ghosts is just sad. The British babe is cute though!
Either way, they must have ran out of celebrity hauntings to investigate if they are now searching the basement of a Hooters.

Wow, whoever's behind this is a marketing genius.
Free advertising on the Bio Channel and word-of-mouth that a ghost might be sharing your sampler platter and steamed clams.
Get there by 5 and you can watch the ghostbusters exorcise a poltergeist for free. Bud pitchers only 4 bucks.

Barbie wrote: These ghosts, if in fact there are some in this building, probably don't care whether it's a HOOTERS or a church. The energy is simply earthbound due to the tragic deaths, and it may remain haunted for as long as that particular piece of land exists.
With all due respect Barbie, where would this piece of land go?
