Awhile back (wish I could recall when & which thread) some of us were ragging on George for asking stupid, obvious questions. His reply here on the FF was that he had to do that for the benefit of some of the listeners who didn't know about 'whatever it was'.
At the time I thought to myself, "Well that's fine, but then why don't you do that all of the time? Why don't you quiz the guests further when they're talking about complex & abstract subjects?"
I think we all know the answer to that.
Rollye? Must've been....don't remember her full name. I still like C2C as it is the only show of its kind that I know of. I still say that Art is Art and George is George. I'd guess some would be displeased with Jesus or Buddha. I focus on the guest; most of them are pretty interesting. Also, if we consider the power of mass consciousness, [you know what Art has said about that with his storm experiments] maybe some of this negative energy about Noory is being absorbed by him and contributing to the very things he is being criticised for....you think?
hurst, that's like saying that the converse would be true:
if we all wished noory well, he'd do a bang-up job, right? i believe in aliens, many govt. conspiracy theories, and i know that elvis isn't dead because i seed him at stuckeys' eatin' a pecan log, but that's just a little hard for me to swallow. and PLEASE quit feeding me that 'art's art and george is george' nonsense. i don't expect anyone to mimic art. i happen to think that ian punnet does a fine job with the small bit that he plays (wish it could be bigger). it's simply a question of aptitude. honestly, with your above posting and the avatar, i almost wonder if you aren't noory yourself (although the english is better than i would expect). of course! it's our fault that he sucks so bad. we should just listen and wish him well (oh, yeah, and buy the fish oil and prostrate pills, i've got my bottle!). my friend, that smacks of crap.

Funny you should say that, Teresius, because as I was reading Hurst's post for the first time, and before I read yours, I was thinking,
"Dang! No wonder Hurst likes George - they're not hearing everything! - maybe he is George!" Heh.
Hurst, I really, really like you, and I really like how you debate fairly and try (as we all do) to illustrate your various opinions - I'm afraid I'll say something to offend you & I don't want to do that & if I do, I'm sorry, I don't mean to. I'm just debating you, not attacking you. I like you.
But when I read your recent, "Rollye...must have been.." comment, I thought,
"Well crap, I KNOW Shirley recently posted TO HURST Rollye's full name AND A LINK TO HER" - sure enough, Hurst, it's right next to your post, too. So it seems, like George, you are just reading/hearing selectively and deliberately ignoring any factual information that would change your mind if you employed a little more logic.
Also your Art is Art/G. is G. debate- which is totally valid by itself, doesn't make sense in this context, because nobody here has said anything like that for awhile. There are only one or two Pirates who are feeble minded enough to say they don't like George because he isn't like Art, and they rarely post.
Sure, all of us do compare George's style to Art's, Ian's and others once in awhile, but it is to illustrate George's lack of skill. We aren't asking that he be just like Art or Ian, we just want him to be proficient . If you're content with or unable to detect a lesser intellect and a less committed/skilled host, then --well dang -- I wish I was you!!
As for the negative energy thing, I can appreciate your point of view - but whether we say it out loud or not, the negative feelings about George are still out there in the ether, so if they are effecting George's performance, there's not much we can do about it.
But let me ask you this: the negative feelings some of us have are because we want him to be better. Really, really badly. That's all. We just want him to be better than he is. (And if he can't improve, which seems to be the case, then he needs to be replaced.) So wouldn't the intent of that energy be having a positive effect on him? (maybe Neamhain or one of you more spiritual types can help me out here with logic & wording... not my field... I'm a demolition specialist!!)
Regardless of how we word it, the energy is on some level conveying a desire for improvement, right?
I hope I'm wording this right, Hurst, sorry if I'm talking sideways. If you listen the way George does, I have a feeling I lost you at "Shirley". But I think you're a WHOLE LOT smarter than George is. I have faith.
Sincerest best wishes & intentions,
Dixie

We all listen for the guest. But a good host makes a bad guest tolerable and a good guest great. A good host makes the guest more interesting. Since you are content with George's lacksadaisical approach to interviewing, you don't notice the spots when George could have asked a question that would have provoked a more in depth & interesting response. But it happens far, far too frequently.
We can't expect George to come up with great, insightful questions every time, but 95% of the time he goes with the easy/mundane/obvious questions - when he doesn't derail the conversation altogether, which happens all too frequently these days.
Ever since he's been actively working on/hawking this book, he has a tendency to start talking about writing/publishing anytime he gets bored with the actual topic or tires of having to listen to whatever it is the guest is actually there to talk about.
If he listened better, and was more intelligent and a better critical thinker, he'd be a much better host. Sadly, these days he often seems to be a million miles away...
Dixie and Teresius, no problem....everyone to his\her own opinion. It's just that I think this continual ragging on Noory accomplishes nothing good and might cause some harm. Just listened to the Sereda interview, and I have to agree with you guys about that one. The info was pretty technical, and Noory didn't seem to do anything to help that.

Hey Hurst. Thanks for the thoughtful post and for just being the way you are. I appreciate that.
Could you explain & expand on how the continual ragging on George might cause harm? Other than hurting George's feelings, now and then?
(I had a long-winded explanation of my posting style, but decided to spare you! Merry Christmas!! )
Dixie, just a quick reply [Xmas-busy]. I refer to the general energy of consciousness "out there", and I believe consciousness IS a powerful energy. In any case, I will try to refrain from commenting about this further. I LOVE the show and enjoy most of the guests....and, yes, Art IS still my favorite by far, although I also like Ian really well. Have a great holiday, all of you.
