Omens for Our Planetary Future
The great Serpent of the Amazon forest,
The wise Turtle of the California desert,
Will share their ancient secrets again,
With humans humble enough to want to learn
To live in balance with one another,
And with the Earth, Great Goddess Mother of All the Living,
Embracing and nourishing all her children.

Tree Deaths in California’s Sierra Nevada Increase as Temperatures Rise
"Life is increasingly uncertain for trees in California's Sierra Nevada. A new study by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) reports a rising death rate for trees in this mountain range, paralleling increasing summer drought due to warming temperatures"

Abrupt climate change in southeast tropical Africa
"The timing and magnitude of abrupt climate change in tropical Africa during the last glacial termination remains poorly understood........ events in Lake Tanganyika, coeval with millennial and centennial-scale climate shifts in the high latitudes, suggest that changes in Inter-Tropical Convergence Zone location and Indian monsoon strength are important components of abrupt global climate change and that their effects are felt south of the equator in Africa"
Climate change controversies: a simple guide
"The Royal Society has produced this overview of the current state of scientific understanding of climate change to help non-experts better understand some of the debates in this complex area of science"

"I don't know how many of you follow the whole controversy about Global warming and all this, I mean it seems very abstract to many people. But a lot of planetary ecologists and people who study this sort of thing are very concerned, you know, more concerned than you might think because they are beginning to think it's already to late, a lot of global climatic models say that at a certain point the homeostatic mechanisms that keep basically global temperatures within a certain survivable range reach a tipping point, beyond that you get a runaway greenhouse effect where no matter what you do it just keeps getting hotter and hotter and that destroys Ocean currents and climatic homeostasis the world over.
This may be the last century in which the Human species survives and I'm not saying that to scare you, except that I'm saying it because I'm scared. So we have to start thinking about that, and we have to start doing something about that and we have to stop accepting the lies and the pabulum that is spread, the information is either suppressed or distorted, the media is no longer our friend the media has become completely corporatized and co-opted and craven and that is why you don't hear about that you ought to be hearing about" Dennis McKenna
