Our Province was slow on the uptake last night and this has made folks very nervous. Dio and other people I was chatting with, as well as myself, were mystified as to why we could not find out what was going on. Here is a copy of an email I wrote to our local emergency leader.

Hi Pat,
I was very disappointed in not finding any info on our BC media directly after the quake struck. It took the operations in Van, 50 minutes after they were notified of a tsunami warning to alert the public. CBC was silent for almost an hour and so were radio stations that I checked. The West Coast and Alaska Warning Centre's website crashed within minutes due to high volume. This is crazy as the earthquake sites in the U.S. and Canada were directing everyone to go to this site for updates and directives. It was 2 hours before I could get on that site. PEP also had nothing on its site.
I hope BC has learned from this because at this point I have little faith in their organizational capabilities if another one should occur.

You can bet your boots if Lindsay Lohan had crashed her car into something last night, the media would have notified us within seconds.
