Hopefully - these smaller quakes will relieve the pressures. Sure hope Berkland is wrong about an 8-9 pointer! We are in a great danger zone here in Seattle too.

Here's to that window closing real fast with nothing but a bunch of small "stress relievers" to marks its passing.

For us "East of the Rockies", the New Madris fault line is acting up with a cluster of shocks. If that one lets loose, we're all in for a heap of trouble over here. At least you folks are "quake wise" and have good geology working with you. The Pacific Rim quakes don't propogate far from the epicenter because of all the networks of smaller faults. East of the Rockies here, it's mosly un-interupted bedrock. Great transport media for those shockwaves. If New Madris lets loose we'll be rocking and rolling over a third of the country. Image

The Feb 19th 3.2 quake right at Mr Rainier (1 mile N) is a little ominous.

http://www.giseis.alaska.edu/Seis/html_ ... y_map.html

2/4 through 2/10....252 events in Alaska alone.

http://www.giseis.alaska.edu/Seis/html_ ... s_map.html

quakes in my neck of the woods in the same week.

the little asterick marks on this map are volcanoes. notice the yellow and green showing no magnitude quakes. these would be magna movement versus plate movement.

ABC radio news reporting the quake in Afgahnistan at 7.2 on the scale. Seven hundred injuries reported so far. U.S.forces report no life threatening injuries within the ranks.A 7.2 is quite a shaker.

7.2.... I wonder if all the bombs that have been dropped on that country, helped to losen things up ? Bet so.. and the effect on the planets vibrations threw the earth, it should come straight across to southern, Ca. No doubt in my mind.. give or take a month or so...

jeri - ayup that ping-pong effect of quakes as I labeled it some years ago on another web site area - does the bouncing back and forth between one area of the world to an opposing area (E-W) as a rule and vice versa.

(see note earlier Feb--)
