That is a reflection artifact; probably the result of using a "point-&-shoot" type of digital camera. Many P&S cameras have a protective panel over the main lens, made of hard, transparent plastic. When pointed almost directly at the sun it produces a glare reflection.

If we had two suns like this, they would've been photographed numerous times by now.

Maybe there's a different reason for this... something as simple as our ice flows not being as dense as they once were, and we're getting a different kind of photo because of a unique refraction. These are very beautiful, though. Where are these being taken?
