Utterly cool Doug, thank you.

And as far as the "triviality" of SETI is concerned, I believe it's all connected. All of it. Somehow. This is as important now, as it ever was.

Thank you for this post. With the deepest respect to Linnea, I believe this is as appropriate a place for it as any.

I can't take any offense at that rant, Doug... I'd underline great bits of it. I was, actually, sort of making light of yet another end of the world scenario. Granted, this one is a bit more realistic than the usual suspects... still, you get what you pay for, and you take what you get.

I do disagree with one point, though. I think that as a group, we could do something... along the lines of Art's old mindblasts. The Hopi here say that what we all need to do to change the world is basically think a little different. Not a lot different... just a little. The catch is we all have to do it.

I believe that... we don't have to move any molecules, just think a little different.

Sadly, I also believe we won't...so this is kind of a weak disagreement. Anyhow, I had to come by to switch on the light.

Whoa! A blacklight!

If it wasn't so dark in here I'd be looking for my Art Bell Website Memorial Collectable CD in it's hand crafted carrying case made of high grade cardboard and imported ink.... and see what the Secret Message said.

Oh, well. I guess I'll play solitaire instead.

Anyone want to give a kick in the butt to their WU average times???

A Kick In Your WU's

I read somewhere that theoretically it should be able to process 1 WU every 120 seconds... An FF SETI Team investment perhaps?? Image

And you also, Gwen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

1 WU every 120 seconds?? Not in my Universe. I wish, though.

A month ago (before the world fell apart), SETI was going to choose it's most promising signals and investigate them further. Anyone have an update on that?

lrs, here is Reobservation Report #8. Take care, and keep on crunchin'!! Image

You can find updates linked from the main Seti at Home page here: http://setiathome.ssl.berkeley.edu/ under news. That's where notices about outages also are posted. Lots of interesting stuff there.
