I'm having trouble posting the link but there is a quote from Art on Imaginativeworlds.com that my son told me about. Art says he doesn't mean to string anyone along but stay tuned means just that. He is considering venues and offers (Premiere has offered him any time slot he wants but he doesn't want, I think that's hilarious!). I apologize if this is old news. I think the post is dated 1/11 or13/13

Art Bell New Syndicated Program
Hi all, I have worked in radio for over 30 years. Right now the deal is that there are two major radio group owners, Clear Channel (whom you refer to as "Premrad" or Premiere Radio Networks) and Cumulus. To launch a syndicated raio program with any chance of success, you absolutely need one of these two behemoths (Cumulus or Clear Channel) to be behind and/or associated with the new program. Since Clear Channel (Premiere) and Art Bell have well known issues, obviously Art's ONLY real choice is Cumulus, owned by Lew Dickey. If Lew Dickey wants Art Bell, then he certainly has the $$ to get him. I guess the main issues would be Art's demands (such as schedule and hourly commercial load). Lew Dickey's Cumulus has been on an almost continual buying spree of radio stations, and in NYC, now owns WABC-AM. Due to Cumulus owning WABC-AM, Clear Channel just purchased WOR-AM in NYC from Buckley Radio. The reason why they bought WOR-AM is Clear Channel knows that Cumulus (WABC) is moving to launch competitors to longtime Clear Channel (Premiere) shows such as Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity. Cumulus now has a deal with Mike Huckabee who they are targeting Rush Limbaugh with. Thus, Clear Channel now has WOR-AM to move Rush and Sean to when (not if, but when) Cumulus dumps Rush and Sean. So, it would make a LOT of sense that Cumulus would go after Art Bell to topple George Noory. Time will tell, but I would bet money Lew Dickey and Art Bell have talked recently.
I imagine it's a matter of Cumulus waiting until their contracts to carry Rush and Sean run out, before they start running the competitors they're looking to line up.HB3 wrote: Why?
Even as war with Clear Channel is brewing, there's still some rules. In that regard, now that Art's out from under his no-compete clause, it's only a question of whether he and Cumulus can work out a deal, and THEN how soon they can get him out there on the "front lines".
