Coast was first..Dreamland was added, but I don't remember what year.

For those who were only recent listeners, Art was working 6 nights a week back in those days. He would do Dreamland earlier in the evening on Saturday and then we got replays of two of the best shows from the week or classics on late Saturday and Sunday nights.

Way back - Art did not do as many guests. It was mostly open line nights with guests sometimes. Dreamland was designed as a show which would always have a guest exploring one of Art's favorite topics.

Sometimes, if a news story broke or something interesting was happening, he would break into a taped show and take it live. You never knew what you were going to get... Loved it.

You know, I'm having a hard time remembering. When Art was first syndicated, was the show actually called C2C or was it called Art Bell? I was gonna guess the name Dreamland came first, on weekends or whenever, but that Art was broadcasting nationally prior to that, but not with the C2C name.

thanx for the history, wildcard. i haven't been listening to art for as long as most of you pirates, and i love hearing about what shows and things he used to do. you guys were pretty lucky to have known about art as long as you have. i, for one, would love to see more posts like this in the future. any information you *oldtimers* (just kidding) could give us newbies, the better!

Dreamland was originally called Area 2000. It was on for 3 hours on Sunday nights, and that's when C2C was still a current events, politically oriented program.

The name changed to Dreamland in the mid-90s.

I believe that Bob Bigelow was instrumental in getting Area 2000 started. Maybe he is helping finance Art's next project. Bigelow is forward thinking and extremely curious about UFOs and the Paranormal.
