I can see the first ones on the market doing something stupid like:

ALERT! ALERT! (BEEP VIBRATE) YOU ARE HAVING A STROKE.

DO YOU WISH TO 1) ALERT PARAMEDICS, 2) ALERT YOUR DOCTOR, 3) CALL YOUR PHYSICIAN, 4) CALL HOME, 5) ALERT YOU "5", 6) MAKE A WILL, or 7) SAY ADIOS?

;)

Boy am I behind. I now can grasp thermionic emission (tubes). The transistor is not beyond me. But, aw hell, it's time for another improvement....

I still like tubes though. You can be sentimental about tech...as long as you don't get carried away...

there are those of the opinion that the vacuum tube (or valve depending on which country you live in) give a warmer sound to amplifiers.

I know that many audiophiles are crazy about the valves. I was told that a tube tends to emphasize even harmonics, which tend to sound pure and sweet. While the transistor is more fond of odd harmonics, which can be bright and sharp. It's partly a matter of preference I suppose....But there is a difference...:)

What interests me about terraforming Mars would be the little critters and vegetation that have been in hibernation ... whoopie ;)
