If you’re worn out and depressed with the US election campaign, ponder what’s going on in Iceland for a moment.



Led by Birgitta Jonsdottir, a former WikiLeaks contributor who describes herself as a “poetician,” the country’s Pirate Party, founded less than four years ago by a group of activists, anarchists, and hackers, could well upend Icelandic politics with an Oct. 29 general-election victory.

More than 22% of Icelanders are ready to pick the anti-establishment Pirate Party, according to a recent poll by the Social Science Research Institute, conducted for the Morgunbladid newspaper. That puts the party just slightly head of its closest rival, the Independent Party, which currently governs in a coalition with the Progressive Party.

A win by the rogue band of radicals would be astonishing, but it’s ready to take the reins. Championing direct democracy, transparency, and net neutrality, the Pirate Party’s mission is to be “the Robin Hood of Power,” by handing it back to the people.

It’s an attractive promise in a country where a devastating crash during the 2008 financial crisis triggered a wave of resentment toward the establishment. FULL STORY

As a kid I always day dreamed that banking was a way of making theft of your money* as "interest" legal





* But it's not our money seeing the assigned serial numbers on each bill. Nor is our dollars the long worn out term associated with gov'ment waste known as "taxpayer's money". We ain't got a dime invested in making one single paper and cloth bill printed "fiatly" inside any gov'ment mint They'll never come and get our stash as they're loaned out dollar bills, of various denomination$, because they know it's not worth the paper and cloth it's printed on!

There's been not a word on the news of Iceland's four year old Pirate Party so far Riddick. But you found it and thanks for that!

That's not a total bust and the article said it was started in Sweden. How's that worked out for Sweden with it's M.E. and African immigration influx generating "no go zones" for it's police departments! Not too good!
