Twisting Terms......

Post by kbot » 01-03-2017 12:21 PM

Heard this story on last night's Redeye Radio. This is an excerpt form Obama's interview to the Atlantic, and their point was that, taken at face value, this remark undoes all civil rights advancement. If "race" is not so much a matter of "who" or "what" you are BASED ON your DNA and biology, but rather instead on how you feel about yourself, then this seriously undermines the thought of the past fifty years or so.

Snippet:

Obama: Well, part of my understanding of race is that it’s more of a social construct than a biological reality.

This logic of using one's choice vs. biological reality was what was being used by Obama to further his insurance coverage for transgender individuals and the Texas court just ruled against it.

Federal Judge Halts Obamacare Transgender, Abortion-Related Protections Nationwide

Explaining the lawsuit, O’Connor wrote, “Plaintiffs claim the Rule’s interpretation of sex discrimination pressures doctors to deliver healthcare in a manner that violates their religious freedom and thwarts their independent medical judgment and will require burdensome changes to their health insurance plans on January 1, 2017.”

The states and nonprofits in the healthcare lawsuit allege that the regulation violates the Administrative Procedure Act (APA) — which sets the rules for federal government rule-making — and the Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA).

O’Connor found that the plaintiffs had standing to bring the lawsuit because they “have presented concrete evidence to support their fears that they will be subject to enforcement under the Rule.”

In a statement Sunday, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton called the rule a “striking example of federal overreach” — warning that the provisions “would force many doctors, hospitals and other health care providers in Texas to participate in sex-reassignment surgeries and treatments, even if it violates their best medical judgment or their religious beliefs.”

What I heard on the show last night was that by changing legal definitions as the Obama administration has been doing they are pushing legal boundaries and the courts are stopping them.....
There you go man, keep as cool as you can. Face piles and piles of trials with smiles. It riles them to believe that you perceive the web they weave. And keep on thinking free. (Moody Blues)
