Mexico's Calderon protests U.S. crackdown
Excuse me Mr. President of Mexico, but why don't you mind your own business down there. If you are so concerned with the supposed persecution and abuse of your people keep them on your side of the border, if you help us build the fence high enough and strong enough it will make that much easier. Hey, it might even keep some of the drugs out of our country. There is nothing wrong with the current immigration policy in our country, it just needs to be enforced. If you can help Elvira Arellano get a visa, you know your citizens have broken the laws of our country by sneaking across the border. Do you also condone breaking the law in your own country? Do you close your eyes to the drugs coming to the US and ruining lives here? I would guess that is likely to be viewed the same as illegally entering the US, it's OK as long as the gringo dollars keep coming . Please excuse the rant, read on
Mexico's Calderon protests U.S. crackdown on immigrants

MEXICO CITY (Reuters) - Mexican President Felipe Calderon accused the United States on Sunday of stepping up persecution and abuse of undocumented Mexican workers with a crackdown on illegal immigrants.
The Bush administration is increasing scrutiny and imposing heftier fines on U.S. businesses that employ illegal workers, after deporting a record number of illegal immigrants in 2006.
"I want to express again an energetic protest at the unilateral measures taken by the U.S. Congress and government which exacerbate the persecution and abusive treatment of undocumented Mexican workers," Calderon said in his state of the union speech.
Mexico was deeply disappointed at the U.S. Congress' failure to pass a comprehensive overhaul of immigration laws in June despite heavy lobbying by the Bush administration. It is also upset at the United States for building a security fence on parts of the border to keep illegal immigrants out.
"The Mexican government will continue to insist firmly ... on the need for an integral immigration reform and the categorical rejection of the building of a wall on our common border," Calderon said to raucous applause.
U.S. employers who ignore immigration laws will face an increased likelihood of criminal charges and 25 percent higher penalties.
The new enforcement effort, announced in August, could create headaches for U.S. farms, restaurants, construction companies and other businesses that rely on low-skilled immigrant workers.
Some 12 million illegal immigrants live in the shadows in the United States. Last year, Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents deported 183,431 people amid stepped up raids on workplaces and homes nationwide.
Calderon, a conservative, last week met Elvira Arellano, 32, an undocumented Mexican who became famous among pro-immigration activists for defying deportation orders and claiming sanctuary in a Chicago church for a year.
In a meeting in his Los Pinos residence, he promised to help Arellano obtain a visa for the United States.
Calderon, who took office last December, had to give his annual state of the nation speech to ministers, business leaders and other dignitaries on Sunday after canceling plans to deliver it in Congress on Saturday because of protests by leftist lawmakers.

In other words, Calderon is accusing the United States of trying to enforce its own laws!!! Hey Felipe, why the he!! don't you do something about the corruption and abuse in your own damn country so that 'YOUR' abused and persecuted people wouldn't have to break our laws by coming here? You have a country rich in natural resources, and plenty to go around for everyone. What hypocritical crap!!! Good PR tactics though. Just turn the tables and once again try to make US feel guilty. Ain't working anymore on me!

There's this story, the NAU trucking, and the announcement that they're not going to send warnings to employers about illegal labor after all. Taken together, it shows that, although they failed to push through amnesty, they're still proceeding as though nothing happened. And there are countless little ways they can do this. The defense, too, needs to be multi-leveled, and tireless.
I think you're right. I have also read that Mexico won't let me live there without legal status. Thats just totally funny. I can't believe he's upset. Why don't someone on our side get upset about the way they treat us when we go down there. 10 years if you accidentally take a gun down there. 25 yr's for 1 on. of Mary Jane. No question ask. No one can help you either.
Evil Calderon another friend of Evil President Bush's. I wonder if Bush doesn't get tired of bending over and kissing ass.

Due to current economic conditions the light at the end of the tunnel has been turned off.
