Serious question for ALL

Post by Iris » 05-08-2006 12:42 AM

The Democratic party is really two parties:

1.) The old-style Dems currently not in power

2.) The corporatist DNC Dems

The Republican party is really two parties:

1.) The old-style Reps currently not in power

2.) The corporatist neocon Reps

My question to Dems and Reps alike is can you identify which current congresscritters (House, Senate, Governors) are which? It is my fervent belief/observation that the old-style folks on both sides are the best and that we need to get away from the corporate-owned pigs.

So which do you think is which, and in which party?

I agree, the old style politicans are the best.
For me, even though I'm a conservative, it wouldn't matter which party as long they present the best ideas to me and the american people. Although I would somewhat favor the conservatives.

What we need -- from both sides -- in November, and again in 2008 is integrity. Someone who won't sell out. And I think it's important for us to realize up front that this won't be who the corporate powers will fund, or who the corporate media will sell to the public. If we are to get worthwhile men and women into office, it's going to take people being informed. So I think it's important that we figure out what we're doing, get wise to what they could do in trying to swing things their way, and make sure our friends and families are also aware.

Case in point: I watched what happened in 2004 and it really rocked me back on my heels. I won't forget what I saw.

Howard Dean was the frontrunner among Democrats with a very powerful message -- the war is wrong; the political system needs profound reform. Above all, and something that would have really made a huge difference for this country, as governor, Dean insisted on balancing the budget in Vermont above all else. He refused to fund social programs without making sure the state could pay its bills first. He was a rock-solid fiscal conservative. The bulk of his funding came not from gee-whiz corporations, but from individual donors on the Internet.

Dean had an overwhelming amount of support, because he knew that many Democrats were more upset with the Democrats than they were with the Republicans.

Nobody I knew anywhere, either in person or on the web, was talking about wanting Kerry.

All of a sudden, bingo-bango, Howard is persona non grata, and Kerry is shoved to the forefront. It happened so fast it made your head spin, and it was a definite, obvious, and intense media ploy. Did you ever see anything like that in your life? Well, maybe George Wallace.

Dean's mistakes? Well, it certainly didn't have anything to do with his rebel yell, or his supposed temper, or anything else the media pundits blamed it on. You know the media could have run with anything against Dean, but you had to know that separating all the crowd noise out from that yell and then playing it a kazillion times to make Dean look goofy was a really sick ploy. I mean, c'mon, let's talk about a candidate's record -- something substantial. It was SO obvious. He was never called passionate, or hot-headed, or anything like that when he was governor.

But why did they destroy him? He angered the the media. They picked on him, and he picked back at them, and this went on for months.

But his most fatal mistake was that he angered the DNC. He was his own man, and he wasn't going to play along like a good little puppet on a string; can't have that, oh no. He refused to bow in deference to the party bigwigs.

In short, they hated him for everything that the voters loved him for.

In the end, the voters bought the media ploy hook, line and sinker, and went into the primaries thinking that Dean didn't have a chance and that Kerry was the only one who did. This whole "electability" thing is very much a media creation, you understand. It was amazing that this hatchet job was done so quickly and so obviously, and yet most people appeared not to catch on. The reporters who did it are still chuckling over it privately, so I hear.

And in the end, Dean sold out when he became the head of the corporate-dominated DNC.

I'm hoping that this time people on both sides of the coin will be very alert to this, will do their own homework, and won't let the media tell them what to think or who to vote for. It's a longshot, I know, but we can raise consciousness. And remember, this sort of thing happens with candidates in both parties; the media, and the DNC and RNC promote who they like, and they like the corporate-friendly candidates, when what America really needs is the mavericks with the fresh ideas and the intact morals.

It's not too early to do our homework. With November coming up, this is a perfect time to start. I think it's important to make sure our families and friends understand that the media will try to steer our votes in ways which probably won't be the best for us.

So let's get down to brass tacks. Who do YOU all think is "clean" and why? Doesn't matter if you list Dems or Reps, let's share our ideas on this.

Good question, don't know if there are any good answers.

There are some of the old timers (both in age and time in office) who have done good things, but have also caved into the "party line" on both major parties.

There's a freshman from this area Cleaver - not my personal rep, a democrat, a minister, former mayor, who actually returns to the area quite often - keeps in touch with the people who elected him. He also seeks CIVILITY from his fellow congress people. I like that attitude. My rep - dem - Skelton sometimes does things I don't like (and he gets an eyefull or ear full if in the area).

I like what NEWT was doing back in the 90s - so ok not too happy with his personal life - but had some terrific ideas.

I think in order to decide likes and dislikes one would have to look at - voting records, personal life, ideas that mesh with one's own beliefs... etc. because I don't think any congress critter would be 100% to anyone here as far as like/dislike.

Er... Gov Granholm is a Dem :D
Republican - re·pub·li·can (r-pbl-kn) - political party, which will control part of Congress 2011-2012, undermining the strength of the country - on purpose, in public, without apology or shame - simply for a campaign advantage in 2012.

I've been researching some subjects that I think will help us separate the corporatists and sell-outs from those of principle and who want to support We the People. You are all welcome to use this information however you like, but I think it's good to know. This may take a few posts.

It has been asked of us , by the rules for posting, that we say nothing imflamitory or illegel...Keeping in theis spirit I will not say we have no rights, we are no longer allowed to demand compliance with our wishes from our government, I also will not say that we are slaves of that hich we have created and allowed to run unchecked for oh so long. I will say there is only one way to regain control of the government....but I can not say what it is.....however the words 'tar and feathers' keeps running through my mind...

ROTFLOL! :D :D :D

Welcome to FF, Frostbite! It looks like you're already fitting right in here. Great sense of humor.

I've got four parrots, so no shortage of feathers here.

Got tar? ;) :D

Iris wrote: What we need -- from both sides -- in November, and again in 2008 is integrity.

Iris, basically I agree with your premise about Dean being destroyed by the Major Media, and yet I would also suggest that there is a far more sinister element within the Major Media, since it is staunchly conservative, no matter how many times the Republican's try to have it otherwise, the PTB, all the Major Media outlets are owned by enormous corporations which promote the same-olde song of militaristic-industrialism, and Dean was confronting all of it.

So, Dean was targeted, and it was very sinister how the Major Media manipulated that infamous 'yell', with the spin-meistering of it all making Dean appear to be a loose cannon, it was all so veyr absurd, and I knew it when I saw it from the beginning, and yet those attacks on Dean's character continued unabated, obviously, he was made to appear to be an enemy of the State!

Rombi, and they say that JOE LEIBERMAN is a Democrat, too. But I think he's mostly a zionist, and olde guard war-mongerer.... just like Madam Half-Bright, too. She helped set Bosnia-Herznegovia ablaze, too, and bomb the children, too, no problema! I was praising God when Arrianna HUFFINGTON went after that vicious Madame Half-Bright, too!
