Great article in the New Yorker. I commented along the same line in a post of page 4 of this thread:

"People have become so apathetic about lying politicians that they think his antics are just one big fun act to get elected. The followers that ignore his outspoken unkind rhetoric, believe he will suddenly turn into a nice guy if he wins the Presidency, or that other powers will keep him in check. Who knows how many other people in power secretly agree with his rhetoric? A risky and dangerous game!"

Doka, the fact that the New Yorker is a liberal publication is irrelevant. As the author notes: "Countries don’t really recover from being taken over by unstable authoritarian nationalists of any political bent, left or right—not by Peróns or Castros or Putins or Francos or Lenins or fill in the blanks." Trump's beliefs are founded in any ideology that will give him the opportunity to rule with an iron fist. The US has been working its way toward this for decades.

True, it does lean liberal. But the article is as valid as a conservative article denouncing (Lying) Hillary. Years of working in a newsroom tells me this about articles. Often you can't believe everything, or at least accept the sway of the article, but there are truths in just about every article. You just need to read for the facts instead of the writers intent.

That said, the bigger issue nowdays is the amount of good, factual stories which are being spiked. One of the reasons I got out of news. The consolidation and the corporations have editors and publishers running nuts. It's affecting the business greatly as once the story is suppressed the spin or astroturf aspect gets everyone fooled.

There once was a day when good journalism and news reporting meant something, and people appreciated it.

This is from The Nation, Who released pages against Trump, this particular piece was was written by Stephen F Cohen, mainly about what is going on with Russia, as I

was listening to the podcast this little nugget popped up. I realize, the Issues have little meaning in a "feeding frenzy" .

STEPHEN F. COHEN Stephen F. Cohen is a professor emeritus of Russian studies and politics at New York University and Princeton University and a contributing editor of The Nation.

"Batchelor and Cohen conclude by asking what current US presidential candidates have said about the deepening crises in Syria and Ukraine, or in Europe. Cohen argues that only Donald Trump has said anything meaningful and critical of US bipartisan foreign policy. In effect, Trump has asked five fundamental (and dissenting) questions. Should the United States always be the world’s leader and policeman? What is NATO’s proper mission today, 25 years after the end of the Soviet Union and when international terrorism is the main threat to the West? Why does Washington repeatedly pursue a policy of regime change, in Iraq, Libya, possibly in Ukraine, and now in Damascus, even though it always ends in “disaster”? Why is the United States treating Putin’s Russia as an enemy and not as a security partner? And should US nuclear-weapons doctrine include a no–first use pledge, which it does not include? Cohen argues that Trump’s questions are fundamental and urgent, but that instead of engaging them, his opponents (including President Obama) and the media dismiss the issues he raises about foreign policy as ignorant and dangerous. Some even charge that his statements are like “Christmas in the Kremlin” and that he is “the Kremlin’s Candidate”—thereby, Cohen laments, further shutting off the debate we so urgently need. "

That has already been done.

Every time I hear folks say the Constitution is a "living and breathing" document I want to vomit. Executive Orders a whole other topic and they have all used and abused it but this fellow has taken it to new heights.

This current administration - especially Obama - has already violated the constitution so much - where do you begin?

It's interesting how many of you feel Trump will stomp the constitution, when the last eight years have seen more than an abundance of Constitutional challenges, and an open mocking that it's an old piece of paper which needs to be rewritten.

Actually if any of the three, Bernie, Hillary, or the Donald get in, I expect some bad mojo.

The only candidate who I think we can safely say won't defecate on the Constitution is Gary Johnson.

It is very interesting, one that perplexes me to no end, I have been listening to all the speeches, Trump has been speaking to the issues , but, I bet no one here has listened to any of what he has to say, just listen to their favorite corporate media and agree with it, Bernie bless him, knows something " is "Rotten" and I find myself in hopes that he doesn't cave in, even though I find his ideology is the same as Hillarys, he says it nicer, but just as deadly to us. Hillery....really a hard listen, her views switch according to what ever hand picked group she is speaking to. She sounds more like a "Hog Caller" to me, every time I try and listen.

There is I think, a break down , between who drank the Cool Aid , after all they have been "bomb-barded" with the "Republicans are Bad" theme for so long that they believe it hook, line and sinker, anything even semi- conservative gets a thumps down. Then they are basically progressive democrats, and hard wired to it, still not understanding that their own un-movable beliefs are keeping them aligned with the very Group that is abusing them.

The thing about Capitalism is a Big breakdown of what it is in its uncluttered form. Even the ones that hate the meaning of it, enjoy the benefits of it each and every day of their lives and are paying through the nose for their Socialism. Taxes are a pure form of Socialism.

The Constitution as we knew it, NO LONGER EXISTS.

I'm sure this has been widely reported on..............

See What Trump Did When He Was Reportedly Told He Didn’t Have Enough Time for the National Anthem At His Rally

“Guess what, we’re gonna do the National Anthem, OK,” Donald Trump told the raucous crowd.

Speaking at a rally in Anaheim, California, Wednesday, Trump said he was informed that there was not enough time for the National Anthem to be performed — something that usually occurs before the presumptive Republican nominee takes the stage — “because of the television cameras.”

“I got here, and they all said, ‘We have a great crowd. We don’t have time for the National Anthem,’” Trump recalled. “I said, ‘Yes we do — we have time for the National Anthem, right?’”

The billionaire businessman then introduced a woman, identified as Sherry Wilkins, who was at the rally and apparently slated to perform the National Anthem but was cut due to time constraints.

After Wilkins completed the song, Trump thanked the singer, telling her she had a “great voice.” At that, the New York real estate developer continued with the rest of his speech, going to great measures to prove to the crowd that he has great support among women.

“I’m telling you women do like me, I’m telling you,” Trump told the cheering crowd as he welcomed a group of women who support his campaign onto the stage.

When the group joined Trump on stage, one woman said into the microphone, “Thank you, God, for sending us Donald J. Trump to be our next president of the United States of America.”

A Gimmick you say, then why have not the "others" done the same? Well they may now.
