Kinda in the same vein - while we, the US taxpayers have been funding "the war on terrorism" in Afghanistan, the government there has been using money and arms we sent to them to (wait for it.........) destroy Christian churches. And they did such a good job, there isn't any Christian house of worship left in the country.

Something to ponder........

Imagine the outrage on the Far Left is we did the same thing to mosques here in this country.......

Not a Single Christian Church Left in Afghanistan, Says State Department

There is not a single, public Christian church left in Afghanistan, according to the U.S. State Department.

This reflects the state of religious freedom in that country ten years after the United States first invaded it and overthrew its Islamist Taliban regime.

In the intervening decade, U.S. taxpayers have spent $440 billion to support Afghanistan's new government and more than 1,700 U.S. military personnel have died serving in that country.

The last public Christian church in Afghanistan was razed in March 2010, according to the State Department's latest International Religious Freedom Report. The report, which was released last month and covers the period of July 1, 2010 through December 31, 2010, also states that “there were no Christian schools in the country.”

“There is no longer a public Christian church; the courts have not upheld the church's claim to its 99-year lease, and the landowner destroyed the building in March [2010],” reads the State Department report on religious freedom. “[Private] chapels and churches for the international community of various faiths are located on several military bases, PRTs [Provincial Reconstruction Teams], and at the Italian embassy. Some citizens who converted to Christianity as refugees have returned.”

In recent times, freedom of religion has declined in Afghanistan, according to the State Department.

“The government’s level of respect for religious freedom in law and in practice declined during the reporting period, particularly for Christian groups and individuals,” reads the State Department report.

“Negative societal opinions and suspicion of Christian activities led to targeting of Christian groups and individuals, including Muslim converts to Christianity," said the report. "The lack of government responsiveness and protection for these groups and individuals contributed to the deterioration of religious freedom.”

Most Christians in the country refuse to “state their beliefs or gather openly to worship,” said the State Department.

More than 1,700 U.S. military personnel have died serving in the decade-old Afghanistan war, according to CNSNews.com’s database of all U.S. casualties in Afghanistan. A September audit released jointly by the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction and the State Department’s Office of Inspector General, found that the U.S. government will spend at least $1.7 billion to support the civilian effort from 2009-2011.

According to that report, the $1.7 billion excludes additional security costs, which the report says the State Department priced at about $491 million.

A March 2011 report by the Congressional Research Service showed that overall the United States has spent more than $440 billion in the Afghanistan war. Christian aid from the international community has also gone to aid the Afghan government.

Nevertheless, according to the State Department, the lack of non-Muslim religious centers in Afghanistan can be blamed in part on a “strapped government budget,” which is primarily fueled by the U.S. aid.

Why are we funding this again....????? Saudi Arabia is just as bad, if not worse as are many other Middle Eastern countries. Iraq's two-millennia-old Christian community is nearly gone thanks to radical Muslims. When are we as a country going to wake up?

kbot -- wish this country would wake up for sure.

They took prayers from schools - why? remember when it started because the mother of ONE girl - demanded and filed a lawsuit.

I say return prayers back to schools - and those who do not want to participate do not have to do so. JUST do not allow any mention of "this is the only religion" type thing.

We had them first day of the school week - more like 'wishes' for health for not just school kids but community etc; ability to concentrate on getting work done - studies, tests; fair play in sports; safety & weather; simple things. Then we said the pledge and on to classes - might have taken a whole 5-10 minutes.

---now today we seem to have a war on religion .. yet many schools have special rooms set aside for muslims to pray and time from classes....

Well, many parents want to turn over the child-rearing functions to schools. And, schools don't want to teach values systems, so what does a society get in return.

I don't find it surprising that since school prayer was taken out that the crime rate and teen pregnancies have gone up over the years......

Jeb Bush stumps for Republicans with an eye on 2016

OK - how about this idea - this nation has four basic time zones. How about we only allow presidents to come from certain time zones and change that every four years.

Could prove interesting. :)

And then you just see this sorta stuff.......

Snippet:

Awkward: DNC Chair Can’t Name One Senate Race Where Obama Has Campaigned

DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz was unable to name a single Senate race in which President Obama has campaigned.

Bloomberg’s Mark Halperin asked Wasserman Schultz why Bill Clinton has been campaigning in competitive Senate races instead of Obama.

“The president is campaigning in competitive races during this election cycle,” Wasserman Schultz said, deliberately avoiding the word “Senate.”

After a slew of unsatisfying answers and some Deb-splaining, co-host John Heilemann made an effort to call Wasserman Schultz out for avoiding the crux of the question.

“But what competitive Senate races is the president campaigning in?” Heilemman asked. “Is there one?”

“There are races that the president is campaigning in around the country, and he’s also governing,” Wasserman Schultz said. “He’s doing his job and he’s also spent time recording robo-calls and doing radio spots, and making sure that our GOTV focus is aggressive as possible.”

Wasserman Schultz has made a concerted effort to distance the president from at-risk Democratic Senate candidates, constantly reiterating that “Barack Obama is not on the ballot.”

I know this sorta stuff comes-up in every midterm election - especially the midterm where the sitting president essentially turns into a lame duck - but this particular election is potentially looking bad for the Democrats.

THE FACEBOOK PRIMARY
Where 2016 Presidential Candidates Are Winning The Battle For Likes

Facebook likes aren't votes; Yet, if likes WERE votes, Bernie Sanders would be on pace to beat Hillary Clinton nationwide by a nearly 3-to-1 margin and Donald Trump to garner more support than Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio combined.

According to the Pew Research Center, 58% of American adults use Facebook, but since its users are disproportionately young, low-income and female this share is skewed and not a representative sample of the country, so be cautious how you interpret these numbers.

Anything seems possible this year, but even as Facebook makes no claims to be predictive, likes can still be a fun gauge of where candidates have support. TAKE A LOOK!

To bad he hates capitalism, but that just comes with socialist ideology ,after all it's truly fair, we will ALL be poor , paying for that "Free Stuff", that we may not even use.

Since these things are all about ratings now, expect a "plot twist" type finish, which will keep viewers hanging on until the end. I wonder what commercial spots are going to sell for during "election coverage" as the "race heats up", or as Trump pulls more "unexpected" rabbits out of his ass.

The unfortunate part is this: the American voter (at least half of them) can't see a cliché fascist strongman when he's right in front of them, preaching the traditional strong man bullsh!t. The other half can't see a wicked political puppet who sold out to the corporate war machine ages ago.

America, within my lifetime, has truly become exceptional.
