Up to that point, Art was like me -- he smoked too much, lived in a modular home out of town, drove a regular car, built stuff, ran a small business with his wife, etc. I really latched on to the idea that a regular guy like me could assemble some equipment in the spare room, and start asking tough questions; start shining the spot light of truth into the dark places -- like Groom Lake. It seemed like real Americana -- man lives next to secret base, does something about it.

In retrospect (and after listening to countless hours of pirate C2C from the 90's forward), I am highly skeptical. "Pizza Punch" & "Dark Matter" didn't help. Further, I wonder why we all loved Art Bell and his apparent desire to pursue the "truth" on a wide variety of topics -- from aliens to the Catholic Church -- but many of us called, instantly, for the assassination of Assange and Snowden. The best Art Bell shows featured special "lines" where "insiders" supposedly called in to "leak" classified info. Remember Lazar? Remember the flyover? Was any of it real, or was it just sanctioned entertainment --- worse, was it straight up disinformation/distraction? Remember the wingnut/eggplant debacle, where Bell turned on the audience which had handed him his wealth? He spit venom at "conspiracy theorists", after spending years harvesting dollars by broadcasting conspiracy theories.

Bell couldn't stand the fact that we would question the "official" 9/11 narrative --- after introducing a generation of listeners to MkUltra, and Roswell. It was nonsensical.

I have no idea what is going on here, but web casting a radio show is technically easy. It's also cheap. The bumper music doesn't matter. Piracy doesn't matter (except that it is helpful). Spoken ads are great. Now go, be relevant again. Start digging into all the weirdness. Give people airtime who otherwise would get none, and let the audience decide -- right?

Great summation Squid.........

He'll be back.
I spoke with Keith and he's had a lot on his plate with getting everything up and running in time for Art's return. It just got to be too much for one person to handle.

Art is too immature. He can't handle the business, and he can't handle people. He needs a team doing everything for him while he sits there and interviews people.

Too much for one person to handle? I don't understand this. What is there to handle? I mean maybe it was too much for Keith to handle, why would he be handling anything other than the tech side anyways? He is not a producer, who put him in charge? It is ridiculous. I mean, Keith is not qualified to be doing much as far as I can see, and I don't know why he is.

I have lost all respect for these guys at this point. It is such a circus, so disrespectful, so backwards-assed and depressing. They can't figure any part of this out, they have "broken up" what 3 times already since they had this idea? WTF?

Art already had a producer lined up.
Keith was responsible for all network related business and for one person (with Art's demands) that is too much.

There's only one Art Bell... but there are a lot of great podcasters out on this internet thingamajig.

It will never happen. I was optimistic, but no more.

The only way this can happen is if some outside company comes in and does everything and just pays him a salary. Art will still break his contract if this happens (while lying to his listeners), but we might get a few months out of him again first.

I had your optimism also Fan and see this as the final play of Art.

He may come back for a couple months then the old back gets to him and at his advanced years one gets cranky fast when the back hurts. Can't stand or sit long and depending on the problem, moving is also a pain.

If he comes back and tells the truth or just makes a podcast on the web site once in a while as part of his last effort to broadcast it will be fine with me.

It does seem it is still revenge against C2C and Noory IMHO.

Nobody can convince me that Art is not tech savvy enough to know how to stream a show without an armada of staff. He wants to stay in the limelight without doing any work. The whole thing is sick.

Here is the rundown on WTWW the shortwave station he will be on July 20. 100KW power but look at the transmitter and antenna on the links.

http://www.transmitter.be/con-418e.html

http://www.mt2w.com/WTWW%20SW/index.htm

http://transition.fcc.gov/ib/sand/neg/hf_web/WTWW.txt

With 12dB of gain that ERP will be over 1.5Million watts of power.

I hear 5.085 here on an old Hammurlund 140, Kenwood 440S and ICOM 706 all with needles pinned on signal at my CO location.

I doubt there will be much problem hearing the signal on a SW receiver, even my old 1960's Lafayette transistor receiver hears it well on its' whip antenna.

Remember, call CCRANE in the morning for your SW radio. :)

He will also have a free stream and a $5/month stored podcast of each show on the web site:

http://www.artbell.com

He has also stated that regular broadcast stations are interested in carrying the show and they are in talks with Keith and him.

Going to get interesting as July 20 nears. :crazyjump

Cool, never got anything good on my shortwave so gave up. Maybe I'll dig it out again. Hearing Art over shortwave would be quite fun.

My ICOM IC-T90A HT copies the station OK on its whip and with a hunk of wire stuck in the antenna socket it is darn strong. The VX5R does the same. With that power I think a crystal diode across a tuned circuit to the frequency will work.

I'll still use the stream and save up for the podcast but the fun will be listening on SW especially if out in the hinterland camping. Doubt there will be WIFI in the remote wilderness campsites.

Now to find that shortwave converter for the car radio from decades ago. :)

Good summary of all that has been on his facebook posts and that gab site and others.

I suspect some regular radio stations will pick up his feed but we may see them add commercial breaks so miss a little here and there.

The shortwave station booms into here at my CO plains location about 40-miles south-east of Denver on my old transistor shortwave radio so most should be able to hear it live at that time.

Now lets hope nothing goes wrong, his back holds out, and we get to hear Art a few more years before he really retires although I suspect he will go to the point we hear dead air and, well, Art has gone to the radio studio in the sky or as us hams say SK - Silent Key.

Looking forward to the shortwave option - shortwave has been going downhill for years now - it'll be nice to break it out....
