Shortwave Radio and the PC: What is it?

It is 2003, and your 2.8GHz PC is humming along with a cable modem, a gigabyte of ram, massive amounts of storage, and a communications infrastructure consisting of Instant Messaging, email, IRC, discussion forums, streaming media, and even a TV card. Your PC is an amazing machine, connecting you to all corners of the globe. Unlike your father's generation, you come to your PC for information first, and you find everything you need on it. It is the center of your information world, from local sports scores and movie times to world events and chat with people from distant lands, you can do anything with your PC.

We are here to introduce you to one aspect of the global information infrastructure that you may not even know of: Shortwave Radio. More than that, we are here to show you how you can combine the power of the modern PC with the depth of programming, the intrigue, and the utility of Shortwave radio.
