Fred, I got that Leno episode from one of your sites and hope everyone gets a chance to see it:
Which is faster, Morse code or Text messaging?

It's about 12MB (fair warning everyone) and in .wmv format

Damn, they SMOKED those text messengers! Those kids had looks in thier faces like a fast car had past them on the freeway, but it was so fast they weren't sure what kind of car it was. :)

And then, one of HAMs (the one sending) was blowing on his fingertips! :D

Yeah, I thought you'd get a kick out of that.

It's too bad they're taking Morse Code out of the Ham testing. I think it can come in handy when you least expect to have to use it. I try to practice as much as I can but, you know, the guy on the other end listening to it had the more difficult job. I still can't do that. Much harder than sending (I guess until you get used to it);)

Yes Mark, it was a kewl thing to behold. Those youngsters never knew what hit them. Now the next contest: who's faster? The Morsers or the internet bulliten boarders? ;)

I just saved a bunch of money on my car insurance.

. . . . . sorry, I was just getting in a little practice. :D

That would be a little closer, at least but I think one of us would surely beat the Morse. I can type about 60-65wpm on the keyboard. I know some Morsers can go faster than that but...it would be a more fair contest.;)
