right, but this is at protests...

We banned wearing masks at protests in Montreal - it carries a max 10 YEAR SENTENCE. Think about that one.

Walking canes?? Like what are people to use if they NEED a cane to walk?

They should not go protest if they are handicapped. All these laws are ways to minimize the number of people going out to protest.

For our mask law, it is actually "anything that obscures your face from cameras", and since it is deathly cold here 6 months a year and everyone HAS to wear scarves, neckwarmers, toques, etc... basically they don't have to worry about any protests.

We also made a law that all protests have to be registered with the cops 48 hours in advance if there will be more than 50 people, and the cops can at any time call the assembly of any group of people an illegal assembly (there does not have to be violence or blocking of streets etc), and can use force to disperse people.

It is about control. We all thought (both CDN and USA) we had the right to freedom of assembly and freedom of speech, turns out we were fooling ourselves.
