GOP voted for Death Panels today

Post by SETIsLady » 04-15-2011 10:15 PM

The GOP overwhelming voted for death panels today. They voted to end Medicare and lower taxes for the rich.

A $6000 voucher will do NOTHING for a senior that will not be able to get medical insurance.

But hey the good news is the rich get more tax cuts. Thanks Grandma !
House Republicans passed their 2012 budget resolution Friday afternoon, sending to the Senate a blueprint that would transform major entitlement programs like Medicare and Medicaid, lower taxes and cut some trillion over the ensuing decade.

The 235-193 vote split almost strictly along party lines. Every Democrats voted against Congress Paul Ryan's plan, while only four Republicans declined to back it: Walter Jones of North Carolina, David McKinley of West Virginia, the iconoclastic Ron Paul of Texas and Denny Rehberg of Montana, who is running for the U.S. Senate in a state with high Medicare enrollment.

I think Nancy Pelosi had the quote of the century:

"This election is also about our democracy," Pelosi said on MSNBC's Countdown With Keith Olbermann. "If they win -- which I fully intend to stop them from doing -- but if they win, it would mean we are now a plutocracy and oligarchy."

Yup. I, for one, do not welcome our corporate overlords.

Here's the plan: keep a Dem prez in office long enough to stock the Supremes with liberals who will overturn Citizens United.

Yes we can!

It's to bad that those living in the south and midwest can't forget the 2nd Amendment long enough to consider the bad outcomes created by the federal government's turning over the creation of money from the US Treasury to The Fed. In listening to the debates in the House this past week, nowhere did I hear from any midwestern or southern representative discussions concerning cutting back what we the taxpayers have to pay to The Fed. In fairness, I didn't hear any discussion coming from the Left either. Each year, the costs have skyrocketed, yet the government doesn't have the will to curb costs associated with the creation and use of our own money.

I found this on The Fed's own website, and its a set of charts showing what they state are costs associated with the creation/ desrtruction of our own money. This does not include the money we pay them for interest payments for the luxary of using our own money.......maybe someone else would know where to find this information.

You don't think that the Citizen's United ruling was born in the mind of a three year old?

Well an interesting tidbit has come out of this budget Mr Ryan has put forth. It would appear it already raises the Debt.

Pages 5 and 6 of the budget resolution declare that the "appropriate levels of debt" subject to the debt ceiling are as follows:

Fiscal year 2012: $16,204,000,000,000.
Fiscal year 2013: $17,177,000,000,000.
Fiscal year 2014: $17,955,000,000,000.
Fiscal year 2015: $18,704,000,000,000.
Fiscal year 2016: $19,513,000,000,000.
Fiscal year 2017: $20,257,000,000,000.
Fiscal year 2018: $20,981,000,000,000.
Fiscal year 2019: $21,711,000,000,000.
Fiscal year 2020: $22,416,000,000,000.
Fiscal year 2021: $23,105,000,000,000.

What Ryan also doesn't state is that CMS (Medicare) already has factored into their budget, an across-the-board 5% reduction in payments to healthcare providers every year through 2020. This is in addition to the move away from the fee-for-service model that healthcare has been working with for decades now, to the new accountable care model, that hospitals and physician groups have been transitioning to.

Under this model, physicians and hosptals will be provided a lump sum, per patient, to treat the patient for a year. If there is anything left over, the monies wil be shared, if the monies are "blown" early on, the physicians and healthcare facilities eat the costs. This, in theory, will spur "more efficient" use of tesing, much of the high technology tests being repetitive and costly, etc. I don't know if anyone has noticed, but a lot of physicians have been moving their offices - joining other practices, and so on. This is why. Under Accountable Care, primary care physicians can "belong to" only one hospital. So, what has been occurng is a shift in the primary care physician pool as allegiances shift based on economic forcasts.

This is just one area that has been worked on for years now, that Ryan's plan hasn't even addressed. It's been developed by CMS working with hospital systems in Washington State, Texas and Michigan (among others), and is being roled out incrementally, nationwide. Since Ryan seems oblivious to this development, it makes me wonder about the other fuzzy math he's touting.........
