Health Care Reconciliation Bill Passes Senate, Goes Back to House for Another Vote
The Senate this afternoon passed the health care reconciliation bill by a 56-43 vote, which included the important "fix-its" to the law signed this week.
Three Democrats, including Sens. Blanche Lincoln and Mark Pryor of Arkansas and Sen. Ben Nelson of Nebraska -- all of whom voted for the original Senate health care legislation -- voted against the reconciliation. . . .

My opinion is that many need to take it down a few notches, someone is going to get hurt and then all hell is going to break loose. People have a right to protest, they do not have a right to intimidate or threaten others, I don’t care who it is. The violent terminology that is being used is not helping the situation at all
There have been quite a few stories coming from the left that attempt to be more equitable. I think the NYRB did one.
It's interesting that the very people attempting to paint the Tea Party in the harshest possible terms are the very same people who reflexively argue that "it's only a few extremists" in the case of religious terrorism. Oddly, it's never "just a few extremists" when it comes to the Tea Party or conservative movement.
BTW... those IDIOTS that are having the State Atty General's trying to file suit to block this... do they realize that the frigging bill says 'states can innovate and do their own program.. just meet some standards?'

You got a problem with meeting a minimum standard?

As mandated - unconstitutionally - by the Federal Goverment? I sure as hell do.

Nope, but what does that have to do with health care reform? I can drill for my own water, and raise/grow my own food. I've done both without gubmit help or intervention.

Biker, I am not sure how this could be unconstitutional and Medicare and Social Security isn't. I am not looking to fight with anyone, I am trying to understand where others are coming from. Or do those that disagree with this legislation disagree with Social Security and Medicare believe that is unconstitutional as well. Just trying to understand.
The House of Representatives has just passed the Senate Reconciliation Amendments to the Health Care Reform Bill by a vote of 220-207. The House did not pursue any other changes to the bill. The long legislative process regarding this issue is now over. The Reconciled Bill will now go to the President for his signature which could come as early as tomorrow but will probably occur some time next week.
