Sea Turtles Rescued From Gulf Oil Spill Released Into Atlantic
More:The first group of sea turtles that are part of a sweeping effort to save threatened and endangered hatchlings from death in the oily Gulf of Mexico have been released into the Atlantic Ocean.
Fifty-six endangered Kemp's ridley turtles were released on a beach at Florida's Canaveral National Seashore this week, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission said Thursday.
Sixty-seven eggs were collected from a nest along the Florida Panhandle on June 26 and brought to a temperature-controlled warehouse at NASA's Kennedy Space Center, but only the 56 hatched. State and federal officials plan to bring thousands more eggs for incubation in the coming months.
It is part of an overall plan to pluck some 70,000 eggs from sea turtle nests on beaches across Alabama and Florida before they hatch and swim out into the oil from the April 20 Deepwater Horizon rig explosion off Louisiana. NASA currently has about 1,100 eggs at the space center site incubating.

Ahoy.
I'm visualizing the sea floor remaining stable.
I thought I heard something about a huge plume several miles from the rig. I went to Google and some sites covering the oil disaster but didn't find anything. Anyone else hear about this?
Thanks Joolz and SETIsLady for the mind blasts and the good news about the turtles

I found this article but it's old.

I don't know whether what I heard was refering to the old plume or whether a new one has been discovered and is being kept quiet.

This article may have something to do with what I heard.
This one, you were asking for detailed information about the wellbore, about the — what they knew about the seafloor, about the status of it. That information is obviously crucially important now. Have they — and, yesterday, you were saying, look, they haven’t responded. Have they responded at all over the last 24 hours?
MARKEY: They have not responded
The Chairman of the Energy and Environment Subcommittee Rep. Ed Markey is now questioning not only if oil and gas are seeping out of the damaged casing into the seabed and surrounding rock, but whether oil and gas may be rushing IN to the casing after BP drilled into oil formations above the target reservoir.
Full article and video.

Did anyone hear the news this morning that the scimmer that was sent to the Gulf isn't working properly because of all the dispersants that were dumped into the Gulf? My undertanding is that BP did this because of the amounts of methane gases being released and that there were concerns of explosions. Add to that the concerns that the dispersants are probably even more toxic than the oil itself.........it's like a comedy of errors. I think more prayes will be needed.
There you go man, keep as cool as you can. Face piles and piles of trials with smiles. It riles them to believe that you perceive the web they weave. And keep on thinking free. (Moody Blues)

I think it's more like a comedy of terrors - without the comedy.
I have heard the dispersant is more toxic than the oil and that they're continuing to use is to keep the risk of explosion down. I hadn't heard that it's fouling the skimmer.
Like an evil glacier, the multitude of sins beneath the surface far exceed those above - figuratively and literally.
Let's Mind Blast it and melt that bad boy (oops, no pun intended ) into oblivion.

This is one of the beaches we go to, the one we normally go to their beach cam is offline. It makes a great visual for the mindblasts, especially at night with the moon as the only light
