And thanks Joanie, we were okay. We were in a high ground-clearance van with taller, all-terrain tires. This can be very helpful when negotiating standing water in the streets. But deep water should be forded with caution; moving water should be avoided altogether.

Linnea, this is the recessed section (still under condtruction) at I-1O and Beltway 8; this is on Wednesday, two days after the flood rains. The clearance here ai 17 feet 7 inches and the water was about two to three feet below that.

And yes, once again the infamous Art Bell Filipino hate mail hoax is at it again: the Filipino Daily Inquirer printed the letter as a genuine story. Some things just won't go away.
